81 校 園 發 展 與 環 境 保 護 Campus Development and Environmental Protection Protection of Rare Plant The University makes every possible effort to cautiously maintain the equilibrium between development and preservation. The tree survey for the project of the construction of the two Integrated Teaching Buildings found a bamboo bush of Bambusa chunii , a rare species unique to Hong Kong, at the site of the old Bamboo Lodge, where the new teaching complex will be built. To preserve the bush, the University requested the architect to re-design the layout. The new design features a piazza with the bamboo bush at its entrance. The University will ask the construction contractor to protect the bamboo bush by closely observing the instructions of the University’s landscape consultants. Achievements In May 2010, CUHK won the ‘Energywi$e Label — Class of Excellence’ and the gold award in the public sector of the 2009 Hong Kong Awards for Environmental Excellence Sectoral Awards. The University was also awarded the ‘U Green Awards 2009’ by the U Magazine . 於竹苑原址的罕有煥鏞箣竹 A bambo bush of Bambusa chunii found at the site of the old Bamboo Lodge 保護珍貴植物 大學力求平衡生態保育及校園發展。在 為兩座綜合教學大樓（位於竹苑原址） 作樹木調查和設計期間，大學發現了一片 竹林，全是香港罕有的煥鏞　竹。為保育 這片珍貴竹林，校方要求建築師重新設 計大樓布局，最後設計了一個廣場，把竹 林保留於入口處。校方更提醒承建商，在 施工階段須嚴格遵守校方景觀美化顧問 的指示，保護竹林。 環保成就 二零一零年五月，中大在「二零零九香港 環保卓越計劃」的節能標誌獎項計劃中 獲頒卓越級別，以及獲該計劃公共機構 組別的「界別卓越獎」金獎。同年還奪得 「U Magazine 您想綠色生活大獎」。
