10 思往憶舊 Milestones In the past year, we mourned the passing of a number of eminent personages whose memory we cherish for having rendered distinguished services to the University, among them Sir Y.K. Kan, Prof. Chen Chih-fan, Prof. Hu Shiu-ying, and Prof. Lao Sze-kwang. Requiescat in pace . I would also like to put on record my deep gratitude to all my senior colleagues whose support and advice greatly facilitate my work at the helm of the ship. During the year under review, appointments of new Officers of the University included Prof. Hau Kit-tai as Pro-Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Dennis K.P. Ng and Prof. Gordon Cheung as Associate Pro-Vice-Chancellors, Prof. Jimmy J.M. Yu as Head of United College, Prof. Rance P.L.
