A written thesis may be required, this to be recommended by each Board of Studies for either all or some of the graduating students. I n that event, the thesis may be regarded as a substitute for such part of the DegreeExamination as determined by the Senate at the recommendation of the Board. I n summary, I wou ld like to propose to the Senate to adopt the following resolutions (1) T o endorse whole-heartedly, in principle, the L e hma n n / L o a ch Report as well as the Report of the University Teaching Me t h od Committee; (2) T o give f u ll support to the Colleges in their effort to implement the new Teaching Me t h o d, as programmed in their memoranda; (3) T o request the Boards of Studies — (a) to study and discuss thoroughly the two Reports; (b) to conduct continuous discussion on the implementation of the proposals �；� (c) to make definite recommendations to the Vice-Chancellor i n regard to the proposals specified in this Statement not later than August 1, 1965. Ma y 18, 1965. 校長致大學敎務會關於實施新敎學方法之報吿� 〔以下為校長致大學校務會報告之修正本。該報告曾於五月十八日大� 學教務會會議予以討論。本件末段之提案業經教務會决議採納。〕� 本校各學院對於賴盧報吿不僅熱烈支持，幷皆審愼擬定� 執行步驟，期於本年九月間開始實施，至足欣慰。就各學� 院之備忘錄觀之，下列各點各學院已一致贊同：� 【一】實施小組敎學法（導師敎學及硏究班）。� 【二】減少講授時數。� 【三】重新審定課目內容幷製訂新課程綱要。� 【四】精簡各學院課程。� 【五】減輕對考試之重視。� 在實施新敎學方法時，各學院雖無須以同一速度進行，� 但凡屬科目範圍內之問題，一學院之學系與其他學院之同� 系彼此交換消息及意見，并充分瞭解其目前與未來之措� 施。此等事項，最宜由大學系務會處理。� 本人經與講座敎授、大學系主任及各學院院長會商，建� 議大學各系務會對於下列新考試辦法負責擬定實施細則：� 【一】各學院之學生旣在小組敎學中有寫作作業併須參� 與大學舉辦之中期考試與學位考試，各學院得� 自由决定如何測定該院學生四年來之成績。（例� 如，在極特殊情形之下，敎師對其所敎之任一課� 目，可不舉行考試。）� 【二】大學於每年六月，舉行大學二年級終結之中期考� 試：� �每一學生必考科目爲中文、英文、主修科試卷� 一、副修科試卷一，及選修科一。通才敎育之� 學科亦可作選修科論。（應請注意者，所稱試� 卷非指某課程之考試，而爲系別科目。）� �考試之性質、格式，及其最低標準，由各有關� 系務會擬定，呈請大學敎務會核准。� �參加中期考試之學生須由各學院提名。� �學生試卷中如有一門或兩門不及格者，則須再� 肄業三年後方准參加學位考試。但如經系務會� 提出，一部份未及格之學生得於同年九月參加� 補考。� �學生如有過半數之試卷不及格者，卽勒令退� 學。� 【三】第三學年（三年級）終結時，學生須參加大學學� 位初段考試，其範圍約佔學位考試全部試卷三分� 之一。� 【四】第四學年（四年級）終結時，學生須參加大學學� 位之第二段考試，其範圍約佔學位考試全部試卷� 三分之二。如系務會建議認爲該系畢業班全體學� 生或若干學生得寫論文時，該論文得用以代替由� 系務會建議并經大學敎務會認可之某一部分之學� 位考試。� 槪括而言，本人擬向大學敎務會建議通過下列提案：� 【一】原則上，衷心贊同賴盧報告書及大學敎學方法報� 告書之意見。� 【二】各學院依照其備忘錄之建議實施新敎學方法時，� 應予以全力支持。� 【三】指示各系務會：� �將該兩項報告書加以詳盡硏究與討論；� �關於實施方案及方法應彼此不斷硏討；� �最遲於本年八月一日前，就本件所提出各點，� 向校長提出具體建議。� 一九六五年五月十八日� 3
