T h e G lee C lub arrived in the Colony on J u ly 12 fo r a fo u r-d a y v is it. T h e y presented tw o performances at the C ity H a ll Thea tre, on J u ly 13 and 15’ at 8:30 p.m . T h e ir v is it to N ew Asia afforded an excellent op ­ p o rtu n ity fo r c u ltu ra l in te rflow between students o f Yale U n iv e rs ity and students o f the Chinese U n ive rs ity. T h e Glee C lu b sang twelve be a u tifu l songs, in c lu d in g "M o th e r o f M e n ", "H u m b le in M y S ou l” , "L a u g h in g S ong", " Soon 'a W ill Be D o n e ", 2 Negro sp iritua ls and 5 Yale student songs. T h e en tertainm en t p re­ sented by the Chinese M u s ic C lub and the M u s ic C lub o f N ew Asia was: " M oo n over the B order Pass” (K u -c h ’in ) , "W in d , T h u n d e r and R a in " (P 'ip 'a ), “ T h e Song o f the P ra irie " (E rh -h u )， " T h e Boatman's E vening S ong" (K u -ch en g ), and " T h e Golden Serpents Dance in F ren zy" (P 'ip 'a ). T h e Yale Glee C lub, now in its second century, continues to expand the rep utatio n w h ich began in 1813. M u c h o f the early g row th and success o f the C lu b was due to the efforts o f Gustav Stoeckel, an ou tstanding Bavarian m usician who jo in e d the Yale fa cu lty in 1855. L a te r under M r. M a rsh a ll B a rth o lo mew 's leadership, the g roup achieved national p rom in e n ce by w in n in g the N a tion a l Cham pionship in the In te r collegiate Glee C lub contest o f 1924 and 1925. Since then, bo th unde r the leadership o f M r. B artholom ew and M r. Heath, the Glee C lu b has made many tou rs abroad.
