T h e Ad v i s o ry Board on Na t u r al Sciences was one of the three Boards organized by the Vice-Chancellor i n 1964 to advise the Un i v e r s i ty on recruitment, curriculum and related matters, the other t wo being the Boards on Huma n i t i e s, and Social Science and Business Adm i n i s t r a t i o n. T h e members of these Boards are renowned scholars f r om all over th e wo r l d. Professor Ya n g, one of the top physicists in the world , was i n H o n g K o n g in December 1964 by i n v i t a t i on of the Un i v e r s i t y. He gave a p u b l ic lecture at the C i ty H a ll on December 30, 1964. O t h er members of the Ad v i s o ry Board on Na t u r al Sciences are: Prof. F . G . NEW TEACH I NG METHODS T h e Un i v e r s i ty Senate on December 7, 1965 continued discussion on crucial questions on the new teaching methods (See Vo l. I I , N o. Five for early discussions). Abstracts of the considerations are as follows: On Language Tests in the Intermediate Examination 1) English T h e objective and standard of the test should be decided by the Senate. T h e a im should be to test a candidate's ability to read w i t h understanding and to express his ideas clearly, b ut more emphasis should be laid on comprehension.
