T h e group visited the three Colleges o f the Chinese U n iv e rs ity and at tended the U n iv e rs ity staff luncheon on F ebruary 18 at the Park H o te l. △ D r. Simon K uznets, Professor o f Econom ics at H a rvard U n iv e rs ity , arrived in H o ng K o n g w ith his w ife on F ebruary 27 at the in v ita tio n o f the V ice- C hancellor D r. C h o h -M in g L i. Professor Kuznets, a w o rld a u th o rity on the study o f national in c o m e, is C hairm an o f the Academ ic A d viso ry Board on Social Sciences and Business A dm in is tra tio n , one o f the three advisory bodies o f the U n iv e rs ity . Professor K uznets came to advise the U n iv e rs ity on the development o f Social Science studies and to prom ote closer relations between the Chinese U n iv e rs ity and H a rvard U n iv e rsity . Fehl has co n tribu te d $600, w hich he received fo r his E x tra -M u ra l Studies D e pa rtm ent lectures, to his research project under the auspices o f the In s titu te o f Social Studies and the H um anities. △ M r. Chia C h ing K w o n g o f N ew Asia College has been awarded a scholarship by the Japanese M in is try o f E ducation to study Chinese L ite ra tu re in Japan fo r an M .A . degree. T h e scholarship is fo r a period o f tw o years. M r. Chia is the th ird student o f N ew Asia to have won such an honour. T h e other tw o who won in previous years are M r. Chan Chi Shing and M r. Cheung Sai Bun. △ T h e C hung C h i College Book Store, under the management o f a comm ittee w ith Rev. W .H . Tonge as Chairm an, was fo rm a lly opened fo r business on February 7 by M rs . P ris c illa T so o f W U S ,H .K . Chapter. T h e Book Store is to supply students and staff members w ith low cost books and stationery. △ C hung C h i College has been in fo rm ed that the D a rtm o u th P roject in Asia has obtained financial assistance fo r establishing t wo fellowships in the College fo r D a rtm o u th graduates. Each fellow sh ip is fo r a period o f two years. △ M r. B.C. B lom field , Assistant L e c tu re r in English, C hung C h i College, arrived from U .K . on January 17. △ In response to an appeal fo r blood donation by the B ritis h Red Cross Society H o ng K o n g Branch, tw e n ty staff members and students o f U n ite d College in c lu d in g M r. T .C . Cheng, P resident, and M r. S .K . Fang, V ice-P resident, gave blood at the Red Cross Headquarters, H a rc o u rt Road, on F ebruary 16, 1966. T h e H on. W ilfre d S.B. W ong, D e p u ty P resident and Chairm an o f the Society, welcomed the donors at the Society. △ T w o F u lb rig h t Lecturers, D r. J.J. Jones o f the U n iv e rs ity o f Texas and D r. D J . B erth rong o f the U n iv e rs ity o f Oklahoma are respectively conducting a course in Am erican lite ra tu re and a course in Am erican h is to ry at U n ite d College. △ A three-day U n iv e rs ity Paperbacks E x h ib itio n was held in U n ite d College H a ll from F ebruary 2 unde r the jo in t sponsorship o f the B ritis h Council and the U n ite d College L ib ra ry . On display were some 760 paperbacks o f interest to U n iv e rs ity teachers and undergraduates as w ell as to people in the educa tio n a l and c u ltu ra l circles.
