Sm ith, Assistant D ire c to r o f the In te rn a tio n a l Centre fo r the A dvancement o f M anagem ent E ducation, G raduate School o f Business, visited N ew Asia College. △ Professor L iu T s 'u n -y an o f the N a tional A u stralian U n iv e rs ity visited N ew Asia College on January 18 and gave a ta lk to the fa cu lty members. △ On January 24 , M r. John E. Sawyer, President o f W illiam s College, U .S .A ., visited N ew Asia College. △ A t the in v ita tio n o f the U n iv e rs ity , Professor C .K . Yang o f the U n iv e rs ity o f H aw a ii and D r. B u rka rt H o lzne r o f the U n iv e rs ity o f P ittsbu rgh arrived in H o n g K o n g in January to advise the U n iv e rs ity on sociology teaching in the F ounda tion Colleges. T h e y visited U n ite d College on January 17 and discussed matters concerning c u rric u lum revision and the p rom otion o f the profession o f sociologist in H o ng K o n g w ith M r . S .K . Fang, the V ice-P resident, M r. N .H . Y o u n g , the Academ ic Registrar, M r. H u Chia-chien, the Head o f the D e pa rtm e n t o f Sociology,and D r. J.A . Beaudry, L e c tu re r in Sociology. H o lzne r again visited U n ite d College and gave an in fo rm a l talk, w h ich was attended by fa cu lty members and a large num be r o f students. On January 27, Professor Yang and D r. H o lzne r visited N ew Asia College. △ D r. D o ro th y E. Roberts from East-W est Center, H aw aii, visited N ew Asia College on January 27. △ Professor Charles C. C layton, D ire c to r o f the Mass Comm unications Centre and V is itin g Professor o f Journalism , gave a series o f lectures in T aiw an d u rin g a two-w eek v is it in January. T w o lectures were given at N a tion a l Chengchi U n iv e rs ity in Mushan, one at the Chinese C u ltu ra l College, and others to the E d ito rs Association o f T a iw an and the China Post. Professor C layton, who was a V is itin g Professor in the G raduate School o f Journalism at Chengchi in 1961/62, was late r named an honorary professor o f the U n iv e rs ity . He was accompanied by M rs . C layton. △ Professor M au rice M o o n itz o f the School o f Business A dm in is tra tio n , C a liforn ia , arrived on January 24. D u rin g his stay in H o ng K ong, he met D r. the H o n . C. Y . Kw an, the H o n . S. S. G ordon, M r. Tsao Yao, and senior members o f the adm in istra tive and academic staff, in c lu d in g those w o rkin g in the field o f commerce and business adm inistration. △ D r. K .R . Chou, Professor o f Econom ics o f the U n iv e rs ity , le ft fo r N ew D e lh i on January 30 at the in v ita tio n o f the In d ia n C oun cil fo r C u ltu ra l Relations, to attend a sem inar on In d ia and S ou theast Asia. T h e In d ia n Education M in is te r o fficia lly opened the sem inar on F ebruary 2 , and it was in session fo r one week. A fte r tha t, Professor Chou proceeded to Singapore where he represented the U n iv e rs ity at another sem inar organised by the Association o f Southeast Asian U n iv e rs ity . T h e theme o f the sem inar was “ T h e Role o f U n ive rsitie s in Social and Econom ic D e ve lo pm e n t". T h e P rim e M in is te r o f Singapore spoke at the opening ceremony. Professor Chou returned to H o n g K o n g on February 15 before leaving fo r N ew Y o rk early in M a rc h for the next W o rld Conference o f the Society fo r In te rn ational D evelopm ent, H e was in vite d by the Society to be a member o f the expert panel on w o rld trade. A Professor Nathan Cohen, V is itin g Professor of Social W o rk from the U n iv e rs ity o f California, arrived on January 31, 1966. △ D r. Robe rt B illigm e ie r, Associate D ire c to r o f the E ducation A broad P rogramme o f the U n iv e rs ity of C a lifo rn ia , arrived on F ebruary 1, 1966. D u rin g his stay, he visited the three Colleges and had discussions w ith members o f the staff. △ M r. L iu W a i Ping, L e ctu re r in Chinese, U n i versity o f Sydney, visited Chung C h i College on F ebruary 5 , 1966. △ D r. D a nn y W .Y. K w o k o f Nanyang U n ive rs ity visited C hung C h i College and gave an address on " Some Possible Approaches to Chinese C u ltu ra l H is to ry " at the College Assembly on F ebruary 11. A S ir C h ristop he r Cox, P rin cip a l Education A dviser o f the M in is try o f Overseas Developm ent, visited Chung C h i College in the m o rn ing and N ew Asia College in the afternoon o f February 14. On F ebruary 15, he visited U n ite d College and had a long discussion on higher education in the Colony w ith the senior staff. △ D r. Joseph Fu, who was to take up his post as Professor o f C h em istry o f this U n iv e rs ity , arrived on F eb ru a ry 13 from the U .S .A . and called on the V ice- C hancellor on the next day. D u rin g his stay, he visited the three Colleges and was in v ite d to the m o n th ly staff luncheon o f the U n iv e rs ity at Park H otel on F ebruary 18 , 1966. He le ft in the afternoon of the same day. △ D r. Robert M itc h e ll , D ire c to r o f the U n ive rs ity's new ly established Survey Research Centre, arrived on F ebruary 13. 8
