W i t h the exception of the area of Geography, wh i ch w i l l admit only students of Chinese Geography, Economic Geography and Cu l t u r al Geography, all areas are open to students of any field w h i ch falls w i t h in them. Whereas the area of Business Adm i n i s t r a t i on takes o n ly graduates f r om the Un i v e r s i t y 's three Colleges, the other areas are open to graduates of all approved universities. Students w ho are not yet graduates b u t w i l l obtain their first degrees d u r i ng this academic year may apply. A l l the Un i v e r s i t y 's graduate students w i l l pay a fee of $800 a year. I n addition, caution money of $100 w i l l be charged and r e f u n d ed on the t e rm i n a t i on of the students' studies after their liabilities, if any, have been discharged. Students of Geography w i ll also be charged $350 a year for the costs of their scientific e q u i pme n t . A p o l i c y - ma k i ng organ for the Un i v e r s i t y 's graduate study, k n o wn as the Graduate Council, has been set u p. Memb e rs of the Co u n c il are: the Vice- Chancellor ( Ch a i rma n ), Presidents of the three Colleges, all the Professors and Deans of the Faculties. THE L I NGNAN I NST I TUTE OF BUSINESS ADM I N I STRAT I ON A n institute of research and graduate study in Business A dm i n i s t r a t i on w i l l be established in this Un i v e r s i ty in s ummer this year. T h e institute, financed w i t h generous donations f r om the L i n g n an Un i v e r s i ty Board of Turstees in N e w Y o r k, w i l l be named T h e L i n g n an Institute of Business A dm i n i s t r a t i o n. F o r mal inauguration of the I n s t i t u te w i l l take place in the T h e a t re of the C i ty H a l l on 23rd September, 1966. T h e President of the Board w i ll fly to H o n g K o n g f r om N ew Y o rk for the occasion. Negotiations between the Board and the Un i v e r s i ty were started some years ago by the Board and C h u ng C h i College before the Un i v e r s i ty came into being. A f t er its establishment in 1963 w i t h C h u ng C h i College as one of its constituent colleges, the Un i v e r s i ty took over the negotiations. T h e I n s t i t u te w i l l be under the direct administration of the Un i v e r s i t y, in line w i t h the Un i v e r s i t y 's policy that all academic research and post-graduate t r a i n i ng in the Un i v e r s i ty should be conducted on a university-wide basis. T h e L i n g n an Un i v e r s i ty Board of Trustees w i ll donate to the Chinese Un i v e r s i ty an amount of money u p to about $360,000 (US$63,000) as the Institute's operation costs d u r i ng its first year of existence. D u r i ng the next t wo years, the I n s t i t u te w i l l receive f r om the Board u p to $285,000 (US$50,000) per annum.
