• T h e " L i n g n an S t a d i um" of C h u ng C h i College was officially opened on September 24 by M r . H o Sin H a n g , Ma n a g i ng D i r e c t or of the H a ng Seng Bank. The s t a d i um b u i l d i ng wa s donated by M r . Chan T a k T a i , J.P., an a l umn us of the former L i n g n an Un i v e r s i t y, to commemorate his A l ma Ma t e r. M r . Yo r kc A l l e n, President of the L i n g n an Un i v e r s i ty Board of Trustees, D r . C hu Y a u - k w o ng and M r . Y . M . L i n , L i n g n a n Trustees, were present at the ceremony together w i t h other guests n umb e r i ng over 1,000. Professor W u Pak Ch i u, a L i n g n an a l umn us and an internationally famed vocalist, sang for the occasion and le d the audience in singing the L i n g n an A l ma Ma t er Song an d the C h u ng Chi College Song. T h e ceremony was followed by an athletic p r o g r amme consisting of an inter-departmenta l tug-of-war , interclass relays and a football match between the L i n g n an Alumni T e am and the C h u ng C h i College T e am. • T h e 9th S ummer A r t Course conducted by N e w Asia College came to a successful close on Au g u st 31’ wh en 49 participant s received their certificates in • graduation ceremony. M r . Y u C l u i n - c h i h, Head of the College's De p a r t me nt o f Fine Arts, speaking at the ceremony, praised the work s of the students b ut wished that more attention ha d been paid to art theories. • N ew Asia College staged an art e x h i b i t i on f r om September 16 t h r o u gh 19 at the H o n g K o n g C i ty Ha l l, in w h i ch the works of the faculty and students of the College's Fine A r ts De p a r t me n t were displayed. These works included paintings of b o th Chinese and Western schools as well as calligraphies, wood-cuts, seals and sculptures. • M r s. L ew is P. Ru t h e r f u rd recently j o i n ed C h u ng C h i College as Pa r t - t i me Lecturer in French. M r . Peter K . H . Lee has been appointe d Part-time L e c t u r er i n Religious K n ow l e d ge and Philosophy. Other appointments recently announced by th e College include M r . D a ng Shu L e u n g as T u t o r in Chinese, M r . Ch e u ng H o k Yue as T u t o r in Geography, M r . Lee K u e n Sing as Demo n s t r a t or in Ch em i s t ry and M i ss C h u Sze Shuen as Demo n s t r a t or in Biology. • M r . John L . Espy, Lecturer in Ch em i s t ry of C h u n g Ch i, has been appointed representative of this Un i v e r s i ty in the Ad Hoc Comm i t t ee on Relations between Universities and Industries sponsored by the H o n g K o n g Federation of Industries. T h e other representative f r om this Un i v e r s i ty is M r . Patrick Fang’ Vice-President of U n i t ed College. • Professor No ah E. Fehl, who is at present on home leave in the U n i t ed States, represented C h u ng C h i College in the celebration of the Bicentennial An n i v e r s a ry of R u t g e r s—T he Stat e Un i v e r s i ty of N e w Jersey in September . T h e Professor presented a scroll of greetings on behalf of the College to the Un i v e r s i t y. A C h u ng Chi Colleg e had ma ny visitors in the m o n t h of September . A m o n g t h em were Professor Shiha P. Chatterjee, Ch a i r man of the De p a r t me nt of Geography, Un i v e r s i ty of Calcutta; Professor Do n a ld G . Bishop, Professor of Political Science of Syracuse University ; T h e Rev. Ha r o ld Colenbrander, President of the Board o f W o r l d M i s s i o n—R e f o r med C h u r ch of America, and M r s. Colenbrander. • A n Orientation P r o g r amme for freshmen students was held in the College H a ll of U n i t ed College on September 17, 1966. M r . T . C . Cheng, President of the College, gave a short speech of welcome, and introduced the Deans o f Faculties and Heads of Departments to the students. L a t e r, the students were given talks by Heads of the T e a c h i ng Departments, and conducted on a t o ur of the L i b r a r y, the Language L a b o r a t o ry and science laboratories by officials of the Student U n i o n. STAFF PROFILES Professor Maurice Moonitz, Founding Directcr of the Lingnan Institute of Business Administration. Professor Ma u r i ce Mo o n i tz was b o rn in Cincinnati, Ohio, U . S . A. He received his B.S. and M . S . in Commerce and P h . D. in Economics at the University of California, Berkeley. Since 1937, Professor M o o n i tz has taught both undergraduates and post-graduates at the University of Santa Clara, Stanfor d Un i v e r s i t y, and the University of California. F r om 1944 to 1947 he held the post of Staff Ac c o u n t a nt i n A r t h u r Andersen & Co. F r om 1955-1959 he was Associat e De an of the Graduate School of Business A dm i n i s t r a t i o n at the Un i v e r s i ty of California, Berkeley. I n 1964 he became D i r e c t or of 9
