Chang, lecturer i n the Biology Department of C h u ng Chi College, returned to H o n g K o n g on Au g u st 12 after he had spent one year's sabbatical leave doing post-doctoral research wo rk at Ha r v a rd Un i v e r s i t y. O n his r e t u rn j o u r n ey D r . Ch a ng visited various universities and mycological laboratories in the U n i t ed K i n g d om under the sponsorship of the B r i t i sh Council. He then went to T a i w an and is expected to be back w i t h his f am i ly by early September. D u r i n g his short stay in T a i w an he w i l l give some lectures i n the Academia Sinica. Δ M r . A a r on Lee, D i r e c t or of Physical Education at C h u ng Chi College, left for T o k yo on Au g u st 23 to serve as T r a ck coach for the H o n g K o n g T e am at Universiade T o k y o of F I S U (International Federation of Un i v e r s i ty Students). Δ D r . M . K i t amu r a, lecturer in Physics, C h u ng Chi College, left for Japan on July 5 w i t h his f am i l y. T h e f am i ly stayed for a m o n t h in Sapporo, Japan and proceeded to England. D r . K i t amu ra w i l l spend a year d o i n g research i n the De p a r t me nt of Ma t h ema t i c al Physics, Un i v e r s i ty of B i r m i n g h am. T h e t o ur is an annual f u n c t i on organized by the 3rd-year students to visit various places i n T a i w an for a mo n t h. Mo st of the visits are arranged by the Overseas De p a r t me nt there. Δ Prof. M y e r Ka t z, V i s i t i ng Professor of Social W o r k assigned to U n i t ed College, left H o n g K o n g on July 22 on completion of one year's service at the University. He w i l l return to M c G i l l Un i v e r s i t y, Canada. Δ D r . S.C. L o l l, Senior Lecturer and Head of the De p a r t me nt of Physics and Electronics at U n i t ed College, visited T a i wan in July and gave a series of lectures on E l e c t r o -Ma g n e t ic T h e o ry and M i c r o - Wa ve Antennae at the invitation of the Institute of Electronics, National C h i a o - T u ng University. He also visited a n umb er of research institutes there. He f u r t h er attended the Seminar on Computers and H u m a n De v e l o pme nt held at the Un i v e r s i ty of Malaya f r om Au g u st 7 to 11. Δ D r . K w o k K u i - l am, Lecturer i n Physics at U n i t ed College, left H o n g K o n g on July 14 to attend the 5th International Conference on Physics of Electronic and A t om ic Collisions held i n Leningrad, U.S.S.R., f r om J u ly 17 to J u ly 23, 1967. A f t er the conference, D r . K w o k toured a n umb er of Soviet universities. He returned in the m i d d le of August. Δ D r . S.S. Hsueh, Reader in Public A dm i n i s t r a t i on assigned to U n i t ed College, left for Ma n i la on July 9 at the invitation of the Philippines Go v e r nme nt to direct an Asian regional course on administration of foreign relations. He is expected to be away for about t wo months. Δ A t the invitation of the International Social Service, M r . H o K am - f a i, lecturer i n Social Wo r k, Un i t ed College, left on July 3 for a mo n t h 's t r ip to Seoul, Korea, to conduct a seminar for the staff of Ch i ld Placement Service there. Δ M r . Chang Ch i e n - m i n, lecturer i n Business Management at U n i t ed College, left on July 21 to attend the Summer Institute of the Survey Research Centre at the Un i v e r s i ty of M i c h i g a n. M r . Chang was awarded a grant by the U . S. State De p a r t me nt to spend four weeks at the I n s t i t u te to study recent developments in quantitative research. A f t er that he planned to visit other business schools and universities in the U n i t ed States to study different aspects of Business Management. Δ M r . D i n - y i Lee, Senior L e c t u r er in H i s t o ry and Dean of the Faculty of A r ts at U n i t ed College, left H o n g K o n g on a long leave of seven mo n t hs f r om July 1 , 1967. M r . Lee w i l l spend the greater part of his leave in collecting materials for his research project on “ S i n o - Ame r i c an Relations, 1901 - 3 2 ” at the L i b r a ry of Congress and Na t i o n al Archives i n Wa s h i n g t on D . C . D u r i n g his absence, M r . Lee Y i m , Senior L e c t u r er in Chinese, w i ll act as Dean of the Faculty of A r t s. Δ D r . Jennie Hu i e, L e c t u r er i n English at U n i t ed College, left H o n g K o n g on a long leave of thirteen mo n t hs f r om July 1, 1967. D r . H u ie w i l l continue her research i n L o n d on on A n ne Thackeray ( L a dy Ritchie). Later i n the year, as V i s i t i ng Scholar at Ha r v a rd Un i v e r s i t y, she w i l l, in addition to the above, undertake research on the development of the English novel and on advanced syntax. Δ M r . L e u ng Pak-tong, who graduated this s ummer f r om the Ch em i s t ry De p a r t me nt of U n i t ed College, has been awarded the Haystack Scholarship tenable at W i l l i ams College for the year 1967 - 68. He left for the U n i t ed States on Au g u st 18. T h e award is made under a co-operative p r o g r amme between the two Colleges w h i ch offers US$ 2 , 5 00 annually to a deserving U n i t ed College student to continue his studies for a year at W i l l i ams College. Δ M r . B. Preston Schoyer resigned f r om the posts of Representative of the Ya l e - i n - Ch i na Association and Vice-President for Public Relations of N ew Asia College on Au g u st 1 and returned to the Un i t ed States, where he w i l l take u p the post of De p u ty D i r e c t or of the Overseas Educational Service, N ew Yo r k. His representative post was taken up temporarily by M r . 9
