• M r. Mak Chor-ho, a second year student of H istory, United College, has been awarded the Haystack Scholarship tenable at Williams College fo r the academic year 1968-69. The award of this Scholarship of US$2,500 a year is part o f a co-operative programme existing between the two Colleges since the summer of 1966. • The Photography Clubs of New Asia College and Baptist College jo in tly sponsored a photogra­ phers' gathering on 21st A p ril at New Asia College. More than one hundred and fifty students from Chung Chi College, United College, the University of Hong Kong, and Technical College were invited to attend. • A t the C ity Hall Popular Concert on 28th A p ril, The H .K . Philharmonic String Ensemble pre sented a composition of Prof. Kalervo Tuukkanen, V isiting Professor at Chung Chi College. • The Department of Social Convenors of the New Asia College Student Union held a "Sunday Special” Dance Party at the College Audito rium on 14th A p ril. About four hundred students and guests were present on the occasion. • The United College Student Union held a ‘‘Union N igh t" in the College hall on 4th A p ril. There was a fu ll programme of music, dramatic and sports activities in which many student societies and clubs affiliated to the Union participated. • The Forensic Society of New Asia College held its inaugural meeting on 8th A p ril. The Society is organized by the students with the twofold purpose of increasing members' interest in public speaking and promoting a co-operative spirit in study and research among students. • A Foreign Languages Society was formed at United College on 19th A p ril when the proposed Constitution of the Society was adopted at a meeting attended by students of German and French classes and staff members. The Society aims at the pro motion of common interest and studies in foreign languages. Membership of the Society is open to both students and members of staff. • The Chinese Literature Departmental Club of New Asia College held its Students' Day on 13th A p ril, w ith a varied programme of ball games, fo lk- dances, and a raffle-draw. • The Student Union of New Asia College has set up a Life-saving Group w ith the purpose of encouraging member students to learn swimming and life-saving. A swimming class w ill also be started soon. • The Union Choir of United College sponsored its first Concert Night in the College Hall on 22nd A p ril. The programme fo r the occasion included renditions of operatic pieces by the Choir as well as instrumental music by individual members and groups. • A t the requests of the East Kowloon Youth Council and the Social Welfare Department, the Music Club of New Asia College presented per formances of the “ H.M.S. Pinafore" at Ying Wa College, Kowloon Tong on 20th A p r il , and at the Community Centre of Tai Hang Tung , Kowloon on 24th A p ril. The operetta had been performed earlier at the C ity Hall. • The Fine A rts Department of New Asia College sponsored a picnic at Tai O Mun on 16th A p ril. It was well attended by staff and students of the Department, • A t the Inter-Post-Secondary Colleges Ping Pong Tournament, New Asia College won the Ladies' Group Championship and third place fo r the Men's Team. Other Championships included: Ladies' Single Miss Wan Siu-hing Ladies' Double Miss Tsang Choi-mee Miss Wan Siu-hing Men's Double M r. Ho Hon-chuen M r. Yeung Kai-sum M ixed Double M r. Yeung Kai-sum Miss Tsang Choi-mee Miss Wan Siu-hing and M r. Ho Hon-chuen were placed third in the Mixed Double event. 一 5 —
