PROFILES Appointment of Academic/Administrative Staff Prof. Jia Jianmin Assistant Professor, Department of Marketing Prof. Jia obtained a BS in mechanical engineering from Southwest Jiaotong University in China in 1982, and an MS in industrial administration from Shanghai Jiaotong University three years later. He pursued doctoral studies in the United States, receiving his Ph.D. in management science and information systems from the University of Texas at Austin in 1995. Prof. Jia taught for four years at Southwest Jiaotong University from 1985 to 1989. He then spent three years as visiting scholar at t wo prestigious American universities : first Carnegie Mellon University, then Duke University. Prior to joining The Chinese University in August 1996, he was a postdoctoral fellow at UT Austin for a year. Prof. Jia's research interests include consumer choice models, decision-making under risk, and multicriteria decision-making. Research findings have been published in Management Science, Marketing Science, and other leading international journals. Prof. Qin Ling Assistant Professor , Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology Prof. Q in graduated from the Beijing University of Physical Education with a B.Ed. and an M.Ed. in functional anatomy. He then pursued doctoral studies in the German Sports University in Cologne, majoring in experimental morphology and minoring in rehabilitation. After obtaining his Ph.D. in sports science in 1992, Prof. Qin worked as a postdoctoral fellow in the AO/ASIF Research Institute in Switzerland. He was subsequently employed as a research scientist at the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology of the Medical School of Rudolf Virchow, Free University, Berlin.
