News in Brief Council Chairman Dr. Lee Quo-wei Retires After more than 34 years of distinguished service on the University Council, Dr. Lee Qu o - wei retired as chairman o f the Council when his term expired on 23rd October 1997. The Council has resolved to name the Fa c u l ty o f Business Administration i n honour of Dr. Lee Quo- we i to give permanent recognition to his remarkable contribution to the University and, in particular, to the role he has played in the establishment an d development of the Faculty of Business Administration . Now one of the best business schools in Asia and recognized internationally, the Faculty of Business Administration owes much of its rapid growth to the substantial financial support raised on its behalf by Dr. Lee over the years. A truly distinguished commun i ty leader and a devoted educationist, Dr. Lee chaired the Board of Education and was the first cha i rma n of the Education Commission, and has been instrumental in the overall planning and development At the Council meeting held on 7th October, Dr. Lee Hon-chiu (right), chairman-designate of the University Council, presented a University emblem to Dr. Lee Quo-wei (centre), who was to retire from the office of Council chairman after 34 years of distinguished service to the University.
