Two other students from the Department of Computer Science an d Engineering, Chris L.C. Wong and Raymond K.W . Chan, were awarded the gold prize in the open category o f the Mo b i le Mu l t i me d i a Commu n i c a t i o ns Design Contest 1999-2000 for their design of Location-based Information Browsing Usin g Mobile Positioning and WAP Technology. The contest was organized by the H o n g K o n g Institution o f Engineers ( HK I E ), supported by the I n f o rma t i on Technology and Broadcas t Bu r eau and the I n f o r ma t i on Technolog y Entrepreneurs Association, and sponsored by No k i a and Cable & Wireless H K T . More Laurels for BBA Students The University's B B A tea m beat five other teams f r om overseas universitie s to w in the H a r o l d C r o o k e l l I n t e r n a t i o n al Case Competition for the second time in two years. Organized by the Richard Ivey School o f the University of Western Ontari o in Canada in m i d - Ma r c h , the competition, now i n its eleventh year, b r o u g h t the world' s f u t u re business leaders together w i t h Canada's business communit y to examine the potential of global interaction. This year, six teams were invited to take part i n the event: C U H K , the Un i v e r s i t y of the West-Indies ( T r i n i dad ), Instituto Tecnologicio Au t onomo de Mexico (ITAM),Queen's Un i v e r s i ty at K i n g s t o n , Escola de Administracao de Empresas de Sao Paulo (Brazil), and the University of Economics in Prague. Du r i n g the competition, the participants were given about 14 hours to w o r k out a strategy for a Canadian water purification company to enter the China market. The same team consisting o f Heidi Tang, Esther Mai, Regina Kan, and Maggie Cheung had also wo n the Business Adm i n i s t r a t i o n Paper of the Year 1999 in the Business Strategy Competition hel d in Ho ng K o n g in February 2000.
