Recognition for Clinical Healthcare Research Prof. Joseph S.Y. Sung and Prof. Francis Chan ka- keung (photo), both Professors of Medicine and Therapeutics, received the Most Outstanding Contribution Award (Clinical Therapeutics) at the Health Research Symposium 2007 held on 29 September. On the same occasion, Prof. Diana T.F. Lee, Professor of Nursing, was honoured with the Excellent Research Award. The awards are meant to give recognition to Hong Kong-based researchers who excel in clinical research and have cumulative outcome and impact on healthcare policy and practice. Best Papers Researchers at the Center for Supply Chain Management and Logistics, Li & Fung Institute of Supply Chain Management, and the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics won the Best Paper Award at the Operations Management Division of the 2007 Annual Meeting of Academy of Management Conference held from 3 to 8 August in Philadelphia. The paper entitled 'The Impact of Power and Relationship Commitment on the Integration between Manufacturers and Customers in a Supply Chain' was co-authored by Prof. Xiande Zhao, Dr. Huo Baofeng, Dr. Jeff Yeung from CUHK, and Prof. Barbara B. Flynn from Kelley School of Business, Indiana University. Prof. Michael Y. Wang (left) of the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering received the Best Conference Paper Award in the 2007 International CAD Conference and Exhibition held in Honolulu, from 25 to 29 June 2007. The paper titled 'A CAD Modeling System for Heterogeneous Objects' was co-authored by Prof. Wang, Wu Xiaojun and Liu Weijun. Teaching Prize Prof. Chan Wai Sum, professor in the Department of Finance, was awarded the Prize for Econometrics Teaching in the 2007 Econometric Society Australasian Meeting. News in Brief 39
