18 Chinese University Bulletin No. 2, 2012 The CUHK 50th Anniversar y Fund Raising Committee was convened by Dr. Joseph Y.W. Pang . Fundraising activities were launched in September 2011 and will continue for three years until August 2014. Under the sixth round of the Matching Grant Scheme launched on 1 August 2012 by the University Grants Committee of the HKSAR Government, any donations solicited during the scheme period will be able to apply for a matching grant on a first-come-first-served basis after fulfilling the scheme criteria. The University will strive to make the best of the good will of philanthropists. For example, in September 2012, the Lee Quo Wei CUHK Golden Jubilee Scholarship Endowment Fund was inaugurated with a kind donation of HK$30 million from Dr. and Mrs. Lee Quo-wei and the Wei Lun Foundation, which succeeded in securing a matching grant of the same amount.
