2.2 Applicants for admission to the Post-registration Bachelor of Nursing Programme shall have been registered as a nurse with the Nursing Board of Hong Kong or have recognized equivalent qualifications. 2.3 Applicants may be required to take and obtain satisfactory results from a screening test for language ability and nursing knowledge. 3.1 A student shall complete before graduation the required Nursing courses (or alternative courses for those with exemptions) and at least one elective Nursing course. 3.2 General Education A student shall also complete before graduation six units of General Education courses as prescribed by the University and, where applicable, the college to which he is assigned. 3.3 Exemptions for those holding a Diploma in Nursing Students who have completed requirements for a post-registration Diploma in Nursing or equivalent qualification at a recognized tertiary institution may be exempted from some of the courses required. However, alternative courses may be required following examination of the content of the completed diploma programme or equivalent qualification. 4.1 A full-time student shall take no less than three courses in any teaching term. He shall take no more than five courses in any teaching term except with prior permission of the chairman of the Department of Nursing. 4.2 A part-time student shall take no less than three courses in any academic year. He shall take no more than seven courses in any academic year except with prior permission of the chairman of the Department of Nursing. 4.3 In special circumstances a student who has completed one year of study may be allowed to change his mode of study. Students wishing to change their mode of study shall be required to obtain permission from the Faculty Board of Medicine on recommendation of the Department of Nursing. ! " 5.1 A student’s period of training recognized for registration purposes by the Nursing Board of Hong Kong shall be considered as equivalent to one year of attendance as a matriculated student at an institution of higher education. 5.2 With due regard to Regulation 5.1, a full-time student shall register for and attend classes for at least two years before graduation. He shall complete all requirements for graduation within three years from his first registration including any periods of leave of absence, suspension of studies and extension of studies. A full-time student who for non-academic reasons has to extend his period of study beyond the prescribed two years, shall be required to obtain prior permission from the Faculty Board of Medicine on recommendation of the Department of Nursing.
