The centre will house a state-of-the-art infant laboratory as well as a separate corner for testing and observing children and adolescents. Activities of the centre include: • conducting basic behavioural, cognitive, and neuropsychological research on infants, children, and adolescents; • applying the findings of developmental research to educational problems and family systems; • assessing a wide range of cognitive, social, and behavioural skills in infancy, childhood, and adolescence; and • forming partnerships with institutions in Hong Kong, mainland China, and overseas to promote cross-cultural and cross-institutional developmental research. The centre aspires to resolve environmental problems for the benfit of the present and future generations through critical policy analysis, scientific advancement and the application of frontier research findings. CEPRM endeavours to integrate scientific research with policy-making, and to provide a forum for informed decision-making through scientific inquiry, open dialogue and public participation.
