It promotes interaction between academics and practitioners in the region and serves as a clearing house for financial data and research on the financial markets on the mainland and in Hong Kong. The centreruns three major programmes: • TheCFRC Financial Markets DatabaseProgramme, set up to support academic and applied research. The database comprises a Chinaand Hong Kong Financial Derivatives Database with data on futures, options and mutual funds on the mainland and in Hong Kong; and a Mainland China Database with financial data, company profile an d equity pr ice d ata of public companies on the mainland. • Th e Pub lication /Resear ch Pr ogr amme, set up to pr omote an d pub lish interdisciplinary, comparative and applied research on capital markets in the region. • The Training /Confer ence Pro gramme, set up to develop con sultancy and training programmes for th e securities industr y in Hong Kong and o n the main land, and org anize international conferences on the region ’s cap ital markets. Besides, the centre disseminates resear ch findings and reviews frontier knowledge for executives operating inHong Kong and the Asia-Pacific region. Under the g uidance of the Advisor y Committee on Hotel and Tou rism Management, the centre works closely with industry executives and launches differ ent research projects. Its mode o f operation is similar to the Mar keting Science In stitute in Boston and the Center for Ho spitality Research at Cornell University. Industr y sponsors help define key issues, giv e expert adv ice and in ter pretation, do nate f inancial r eso urces, and /or pr ovide access to data, management, and employees. Academic researchers provide theorizing power, research methodology, research time, and research connection.
