The section also offers on-line courses in Chinesemedicine in colaboration with the School of Chinese Medicine and the School of Continuing Studies. ThePublic and GeneralEducation Section sets up herbalgardens on campus and participates in other localpubliceducation programmes on Chinese medicine of varying scales. The current research foci of the ICMinclude treatments for cancer, ageing, viral infections, chronic diseases, diabetic f oot ulcer, detoxification, allergic illnesses, gynaecological diseases, and heart disease. In September 200 1, the institutewon an Area of Excellence Award from the University Grants Committee. In August 2001, a subsidiary company of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Foundation, CUCAMed Company Limited, was setup to serve as a commercial arm for ICM.
