Its ob jectives are to increase pub lic awareness and und erstand ing of bedwetting,inform parents and young adults of where they can go for professional help, encourage mutual support among patients and their family members, reduce stress associated with bedwetting, promote research into the causes and treatment of enuresis, and to facilitateexchange of ideasand updating of knowledge with other overseas experts and international institutes in enuresis research. The centreprovides a telephone hotline service for the public. It also has a website with information pamphlets including a guide to en uresis for parents/ teenagers. The pamphlets can be downloaded from the website, which provides a lot of useful information on enuresis,or obtained via mail on request. In addition, those interested are welcome to join the ‘Friends of HKERIC’ and will receive its newsletter regularly. The Hong Kong Foundation for Research and Development in Diabetes Tel.:2632 3130 Fax.:2637 3929 E-mail: hkfrdd@med.cuhk.edu.hk Website :http://www.hkfrdd.med.cuhk.edu.hk The aim of the foundation is to promote clinical and basic research in diabetes and related diseases and to improve the delivery of medical care to patients with these diseases in both Hong Kong and mainland China.Members of the foundation include localand overseas clinical and scientific personnel involved in diabetes research and management. The missions of the foundation include: • the establishment of scholarships an d awards for b oth clinical and basic scientists in Hong Kong and mainland China to conduct research in diabetes and related diseases; • collabo ration with lead ing academic institutions and other in tern atio nal organizations to develop research and development programmes in diabetes and related diseases,including the scientific useof traditional Chinesemedicine; • theorganization of scientific meetings and training courses to promoteacademic exchange between local and overseas investigators; • the development of evidence-based disease management programmes and the evaluation of their cost-effectiveness in health care delivery.
