Shatin Community Clinic for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer Tel.:2632 1015 Fax.:2637 6274 E-mail: archang@cuhk.edu.hk The clinic was estab lished in 1995 to gather accurate data on the incidence of abnormal cervical smears and cervical cancer in Ho ng Kong and to promote research throu gh the ap plication of automation and new techn ologies in the examination of cervical smears and other cytological specimens. Currently, an AutoPap primary screening instrument, the o nly one in Ch ina, is u sed for evaluating Pap smears. The clinic also promotes Pap smear screening among local women by offering free Pap tests to all eligible women five days a week from11.00 hours to 19.00 hours. The clinic is funded by generous donations from the Hong Kong Cancer Fund and is located on the Lower Ground Floor and 5th Floor, Cancer Centre, Prince of Wales Hospital. Simon F.S. Li Marine Science Laboratory Tel.:2609 6773 Fax.:2603 5391 E-mail: bio@cuhk.edu.hk The Marine ScienceLaboratory was established in 1970 under the Department of Biology as a research centre for advanced studies in marine science. Current research is focused on the physiology, biochemistry and molecular biology of marine animals, especially that of fish and shrimps, in relation to fisheries and mariculture. Another major research area is the biology and ecology of planktonic and coralreef organisms in the waters of Hong Kong and southern China. The laboratory is equipped with research and teaching laboratories,an air- conditioned aquarium, equipment and instrument rooms, and a seminar room. It is also equipped with a recirculatory seawater system, more than 30 indoor and outdoor culture tanks, and a speed boat. In 2002, the laboratory was renamed the ‘Simon F.S. Li Marine Science Laboratory’ in recognition of Dr. Simon Li’s generous donations in support of the University’s development.
