Faculty and Departmental Research/Consultancy Units 139 The Chinese University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Osteoporosis Care and Control Tel.: 2252 8833 Fax.: 2649 2447 E-mail: info@jococ.org The Chinese University of Hong Kong Jockey Club Centre for Osteoporosis Care and Control, the first of its kind in Hong Kong, was set up with a donation of HK$41 million from the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charity Trust in 2001. Located in the Postgraduate Education Centre, it offers primary prevention, secondary prevention, and rehabilitation programmes for osteoporosis patients. Research is also conducted in the form of genetic studies, epidemiological studies and clinical trials. Training and continuing medical education programmes for medical and health personnel are also provided. Since the 1980s, the department has devoted much effort to Hong Kong literature studies. The Hong Kong Literature Research Centre was established in July 2001 to pool resources and coordinate funding applications. The functions of the centre include: • collecting, indexing and analysing scattered materials on Hong Kong literature; • clipping useful materials from current and past issues of newspapers and other publications; • uploading indexed research materials on Hong Kong Literature onto the ‘Hong Kong Literature’ Internet databases, and to support academic research; • publishing journals and organizing activities; • cooperating with local and overseas institutions, and applying for funding for research projects related to Hong Kong literature studies; • organizing research projects, editing teaching materials and correcting errors found in historical materials; and • compiling the oral history on Hong Kong literature and culture.
