Postgraduate Studies 297 All programmes in the Graduate School are provided through 60 graduate divisions (viz. Anthropology, Chinese Culture, Chinese Language and Literature, Cultural Studies, English, FineArts, History, Japanese Studies, Linguistics, Music, Philosophy, Religious Studies, Theology, Translation, Business Administration, Education, Automation and Computer-aided Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, e-Commerce Technologies, Electronic Engineering, Information Engineering, Systems Engineering and Engineering Management, Anaesthesia and Intensive Care, Anatomical and Cellular Pathology, Anatomy, Chemical Pathology, Diagnostic Radiology and Organ Imaging, Medical Sciences, Microbiology, Nursing, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Pharmacology, Pharmacy, Physiology, Public Health, Surgery, Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Chinese Medicine, Environmental Science, Food and Nutritional Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, Mathematics, Molecular Biotechnology, Physics, Risk Management Science, Statistics, Architecture, Communication, Economics, Geography and Resource Management, Geoinformation Science, Government and Public Administration, Psychology, Social Work, Sociology, and Gender Studies). Applicants who have graduated with good honours degrees from recognized universities and who have the capacity for research may apply for admission to the above postgraduate programmes. Starting from 2000–01, all newly admitted students are required to achieve a certain level of competence in IT. They are required to pass the IT Proficiency Test before they graduate. If they pass, ‘IT Proficiency Passed’ will be recorded on the transcripts.
