CUHK Newsletter Services to the Community and International Organizations • Dr. Chan Wing-wah, lecturer in music, was invited by the Music Office to be an adjudicator for the Hong Kong Youth Band Festival — Symphonic Band Contest on 29th December 1989. Dr. Chan also served as an external examiner for theMusic Department, University of Hong Kong in acomposition concert on 5th February 1990. Dr. Chan also served as programme director and host for the concert entitled 'Local Composers' Corner: Lin Sheng-shih and Doming Lam' on 17th and 18th February 1990 at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts and Sha Tin Town Hall. The concert was jointly presented by Hong Kong Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Composers' Guild and will be broadcasted on RTHK Radio 4. Dr. Chan's music composition ‘Merge’ for string quartet was premiered by Kronos Quartet, USA at the City Hall during the Hong Kong Arts Festival on 23rd February. • Prof. Patrick CP. Ho, professor of surgery, has been appointed by the Hong Kong College of General Practitioners as Honorary Clinical Supervisor for the Ophthalmology Component of the Vocational Training in General Practice from 1989 to 1990 , and as Honorary Contributing Editorial Consultant of the HongKongPractitioner Journal, Prof. Ho has also been reappointed by United Christian Hospital as Honorary Consultant of Ophthalmology for 1990. • Dr. Wong Tze Wai, senior lecturer in community and family medicine, has been elected chairman of the Hong Kong Society of Community Medicine for aterm of one year from 12th December 1989. • Mr. Wan Hon-cheung, director of alumni affairs, has been reappointed a member of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award Council by HE the Governor for a term of two years from 1st February 1990. • Prof. Arthur Li and Prof. Patrick CP. Ho, professors of surgery, have been appointed members of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine Preparatory Committee by HE the Governor. • Dr. Lee Kam-hon, director of MBA Programmes and reader in marketing, has been appointed a trustee of the Hong Kong Baptist Church from 1st January 1990. The Chinese University of Hong Kong Employees' Credit Union (CUECU) Obituary The CUECU records with deep sadness the passing away of Mr. Bosco C.M. Leung, husband of Mrs. Louisa Leung (President of the CUECU), on 10th February 1990. Mr. Leung had served in the Social Welfare Department for nearly 30 years. The funeral service for Mr. Leung was held on 17th February at the Hong Kong Funeral House. Mrs. Louisa Leung and her family wish to thank all colleagues in CUHK for their condolences, wreaths and attendance at the funeral service. 8
