Closed Late Reading Rooms Mon.-Fri. 9.00 p.m. - 11 . 00 p.m. (Chung Chi College from 8.00 p.m.) Sat. 12.00 noon - 11.00 p.m. Sun. 9.00 a.m.-11.00 p.m. (Chung Chi College from 8.00 a.m.) University Swimming Pool Opening Hours From 9th September to 30th November, the opening hours of the University Swimming Pool will be as follows: 1st session: 10.30 a.m. to 2.00 p.m. 2nd session: 2.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. (On the day of the Mid-Autumn Festival on 22nd September, the pool will be closed earlier at 5.00 p.m.) The pool is open seven days a week including public holidays. Admission tickets in sets of 12 are sold at bargain price to students, staff and dependents, alumni, and guests at the Office of Student Affairs, Room 108 , Benjamin Franklin Centre. Lunch Time Medley The Students Affairs Office organizes the ‘Lunch Time Medley' for both students and staff members at the Fong Shu Chuen Music Room (1st floor, John Fulton Centre) Monday through Friday. A new programme has been designed for the new academic year 1991-92. New Publication of the University Press The following book will be sold at a 20 per cent discount to staff members at the University Bookshop, John Fulton Centre: • The Chronological Biography of Wan Sitong (1638-1702) (《萬斯同年譜》) (in Chinese) by Chen Xunci and Fang Zuyou, xxvi + 310 pp., (paperback, HK$86). Obituaries • Mr. Ian Maxwell, former senior executive of the Inter- University Council for Higher Education, passed away in July 1991. Mr. Maxwell had been secretary of the two Fulton Commissions - the first one in 1963 which recommended the establishment of The Chinese University and the second one in 1976 which recommended important changes to the constitutional framework of the University. • Mr. Cheung Loi-yick, the vice-chancellor's chauffeur, passed away on 5th September 1991 in Panyu County, Guangdong Province.
