4 No. 116 19th November 1997 CUHK Newsletter 宣 布 事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 新設課程 New Academic Programmes 敎務會上月底通過開設七項新課程，詳情 如下： •流行病學與生物統計學理學碩士課程 (兼讀制，自負盈虧，一九九八年一月 起開設） •幼兒營養學高級文憑/文憑課程(一九 九八年一月起由校外進修學院開設） •電腦(商業應用)文憑課程(一九九八年一月起 由校外進修學院開設） •音樂演奏(鋼琴)文憑課程(一九九七年十一月 起由校外進修學院開設） •警學文憑課程(遙距課程，一九九八年一月起 由校外進修學院開設） •資訊與品質管理文憑課程(一九九八年四月起 由決策科學與企業經濟學系及亞太工商硏究 所聯合開設） •基礎商業英語證書課程(一九九七年十一月起 由校外進修學院開設） The University Senate has approved the introduction of the following two academic programmes in the 1997-98 academic year: • Master o f Science Programme in Epidemiology and Biostatistics (part-time, self-financed) in January 1998 • Diploma Course in Information and Quality Management by the Department of Decision Sciences and Managerial Economics and the Asia-Pacific Institute of Business in April 1998 The Senate has also approved the introduction of the following five programmes offered by the School of Continuing Studies: • Graduate Diploma/Diploma Programme in Nutrition Education for Early Childhood Personnel in January 1998 • D i p l oma Programme in Computing (Commercial Practices) in January 1998 • Diploma Programme in Music Performance (Piano) in November 1997 • Diploma Programme in Police Studies (Distance Education) in January 1998 • Foundation Level Certificate Programme for Business English Communication in November 1997 中華飲食與文化國際會議 Conference on Chinese Food and Civilization 人類學系和中國飮食文化基金會將於本月廿一 及廿二日假祖堯堂合辦「廿一世紀的中華飮食與全球 化之展望」國際硏討會，深入探討中華飮食文化與全 球化、飮食文化與人類文明發展的關係。會議特安排 一次圓桌會議，世界知名學者 Jack Goody 、Sidney W. Mintz、 Nancy J. Pollock 及本校吳燕和敎授等，以「飮 食、文化與人類文明」爲題，深入對話。 An international conference entitled 'Chinese Foodways in the Twenty-first Century: Prospects of Globalization of Chinese Food and Cuisine' will be held on 21st and 22nd November at the Cho Yiu Conference Hall. Jointly organized by the University's Department of Anthropology and the Foundation of Chinese Dietary Culture, the conference will focus on the future global position of Chinese food culture and the relationship between food and civilization. Famous anthropologists such as Jack Goody, Sidney W. Mintz, and Nancy J. Pollock have also been invited to take part in a round- table discussion on 'Food, Culture and Human Civilization'. 傳經講座 崇基神學組將於本月廿一日（星期五)晚上七時 半至九時及廿三日(星期日）下午二時半至五時半，在 窩打老道五十四號循道衛理聯合敎會安素堂舉行「傳 經講座」，由紐約協和神學院講座敎授、著名宣敎士 及神學家小山晃佑敎授 (Prof. Kosuke Koyama) 蒞港主 講，主題爲「應用《聖經》以建構本土化神學」，並由中 國神學硏究院敎務長李思敬博士及崇基神學組講師江 大惠先生回應。歡迎對《聖經》硏究與本土化神學有興 趣的人士參加。費用每位二百元，全日制學生或五人 集體報名可獲半價優待。査詢及索取報名表格，請致 電二六零九六七零五或傳眞二六零三五二二四聯絡 譚太。 性別研究活動 Gender-related Events in November 本月在校園舉辦的性別硏究活動有三項，歡迎 員生參加，詳情如下： •亞洲性別及發展國際會議(十一月廿七至廿九 日，由性別硏究計劃主辦） •《男生女相》(導演關錦鵬)電影欣賞(十一月廿 八日晚上七時半、信和樓 LT2 室） •「性別硏究」學生功課圖片展覽(十一月廿六至 三十日，范克廉樓） From the Office of General Education The following functions are open to all University staff members: • International Conference on Gender and Development in Asia, organized by the Gender Research Programme from 27th to 29th November • Screening of the film 'Yang and Yin: Gender in Chinese Cinema' (directed by Stanley Kwan) at 7.30 p.m. on 28thNovember in LT2 of the Sino Building • Photo exhibition of term projects of women studies students at the Benjamin Franklin Centre from 26th to 30th November 翻譯教學研討會 Conference on Translation Teaching 翻譯系與中國翻譯工作者協會和香港翻譯學會 將於十二月二至四日假祖堯堂舉行翻譯敎學硏討會， 討論翻譯課程的設計和譯員培訓，涵蓋翻譯理論、文 學翻譯、應用翻譯和口譯等課題。歡迎有興趣人士 參加。 開幕典禮於十二月二日上午九時半舉行。與會 學者三十餘人來自中國內地、香港及台灣，將發表二 十多篇論文。論文集在會場上有售。 The Translators' Association of China, the Hong Kong Translation Society, and the University's Department of Translation will jointly organize a Conference on Translation Teaching from 2nd to 4th December 1997 at the Cho Y iu Conference Hall. Over 20 papers on translation- related topics, including curriculum design, translator training, and the teaching of translation courses, will be presented. The conference is open to teachers and students of translation, members of the Translation Society, and other interested persons. The papers will be available in print at the conference venue.
