The deadline for submission is 30th November 1998. Applications and nominations should be sent to Mr. S.S. Tam, Secretary, Administrative Affairs Committee, c/o Personnel Office, 2/F, University Administration Building. Further enquiries may be directed to the committee secretary (Ext. 7269). A separate announcement concerning Terms of Service (B) and (C) staff review matters will be made around November 1998. 《香港中文大學概況》校曆修訂事項 Amendments to University Calendar 本校根據政府最近公布之一九九九年公眾假期，修訂下 列兩課程之教學學期及考試日期（黑體字為經修訂之日期）︰ 兼讀制本科課程 第三學期 一九九九年四月七日至六月十五日 科目考試 一九九九年六月 十六至廿四 日 課程編號 4000 —九九九年六月 十七至廿四日 及以上主修 科目學期考試 學位教師教育文憑課程 第二學期 科目考試 一九九九年四月一、 七 及八日 一九九八至九九年度之《香港中文大學概況》於校方公布 上述修訂前已付梓，未能包括有關的改動。須修訂部分刊於 《概況》中文版第四及第六頁，英文版第四及第七頁，請各同 人留意。 另，新出版之《香港中文大學概況》已陸續分發予各學系 和行政部門，查詢請電出版事務處林小姐（內線八五八四）。 Subsequent to the government's announcement of the general holidays for 1999, the University has made the following changes (in bold type) to the teaching schedules of two academic programmes. Part-time Undergraduate Programmes Third term 7th April — 15th June 1999 Course examinations 16th — 24th June 1999 Examination of major 17th 一 24th June 1999 courses coded 4000 and above Postgraduate Diploma in Education Programme Second term Course examinations 1 st, 7th & 8th April 1999 A s The Chinese University of Hong Kong Calendar 1998- 99 has already rolled off the press before these amendments, University members are requested to mark the changes on pages 4 and 7 of the English version of the Calendar and pages 4 and 6 of the Chinese version. 護眼新知 保健處有鑑於學生近視者眾，將於本月二十七及二十九 日，在邵逸夫堂舉辦「護眼新知」健教活動，歡迎參加。內容 有展覽，攤位遊戲，並即場派發精美禮品。眼科及視覺科學系 系主任林順潮教授會於十月二十九日下午一至二時主講「最新 近視手術及電腦使用者的護眼方法」，香港眼庫及大學安全事 務處亦會設置攤位提供護眼知識。 訃告 Obituaries •生物化學系助理教授陸家盛教授於一九九八年十月九日辭 世。陸教授自一九九三年七月起加入本校服務。 •國際企業學系副教授楊怡凱教授於一九九八年十月十二日辭 世。楊教授自一九八六年九月起加入本校服務。 • Prof. Sandy K.S. Luk, assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry, passed away on 9th October 1998. Prof. Luk first joined the University in July 1993. • Prof. Kitty Y.H. Young, associate professor in the Department of International Business, passed away on 12th October 1998. Prof. Young first joined the University in September 1986.
