4 No. 151 4th October 1999 CUHK Newsletter 宣布事項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 大學校董 Council Membership ‧李和聲先生獲逸夫書院校董會依據 大學規程 11 第 1(e) 段及第 4 段規定選出,繼馬臨教授出任大學校董,任期三 年,由一九九九年九月十日起生效。 李和聲先生現任逸夫書院校董會第二副主席,對書院和大學鼎力贊翊,並 捐資在逸夫書院設立李和聲自學資源中心。李先生是香港聯合交易所第一屆理 事會創會理事,現任順隆集團有限公司常務董事總經理,並兼任多個機構的董 事長、會長和顧問。他熱心公益,對推廣中國傳統文化藝術尤其不遺餘力。 Mr. Lee Woo-sing has been elected by the Board of Trustees of Shaw College, in accordance with Statute 11.1(e) and 11.4 of the University Ordiance, to serve as a member of the University Council for three years f r om 10th September 1999, succeeding Prof. Ma Lin. Second Vice-Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Shaw College, Mr. Lee has made major contribution to the college and the University, including the establishment of the Lee Woo Sing Self-learning Resources Centre. Currently managing director of Shun Loong Holdings Ltd., Mr. Lee was a founding director of the first Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Ltd. He is also a keen supporter of traditional Chinese art and culture, and serves many public and private institutions as chairman, honorary president, and consultant. ‧殷巧兒女士獲評議會依據大學規程 11 第1 (n) 段及第 4 段規定選出,以中大評議 會主席身分繼李金鐘先生出任大學校董,任期三年,由一九九九年九月一日起 生效。 Ms. Yan Hau-yee, Lina has been elected by the Convocation, in accordance with Statute 11.1(n) and 11.4 of the University Ordinance, as member of the Council for three years from 1st September 1999, by virtue of her capacity as chairman of the Convocation, succeeding Mr. Lee Kam-chung. 聯合書院新校董 New Members of the United College Board of Trustees 中國語言及文學系張雙慶教授、地理系鄒桂昌教授和生物化學系蔡棉教授獲聯 合書院院務委員會推選出任書院校董,任期三年,由一九九九年八月一日起生效。 另,聯合書院校董會推選霍經麟先生及李碧恥女士為校董會新成員,任期三 年,由一九九九年八月一日起生效。 霍經麟先生現為寶源投資有限公司董事及美國亞洲銀行有限公司非執行董 事。霍先生亦為香港扶輪社、英國總商會香港分會、香港工業總會及香港國際學 校校友會等組織的會員。 李碧恥女士一九六五年加入聯合書院社會工作學系,一九九三年榮休。李女 士在職期間曾出任大學、書院以及多個政府委員會及社會服務團體多項重要職 務,貢獻良多,現為匡智會執行委員會委員、香港社會服務聯會附屬會員、香港 佛教聯合會安老服務顧問及耆英會顧問。 The United College Board of Trustees admitted Prof. Chang Song-hing, Prof. Chau Kwai-cheong, and Prof. Choy Yuen-min, all Fellows of the College, to its membership for a term of three years from 1st August 1999. The Board has also elected Mr. Glenn Fok and Ms. Eva B.C. L i to be members for a term of three years from 1st August 1999. Mr. Glenn Fok is a director of Schroders Asia Limited and a non-executive director of Bank of America (Asia) Limited. He is also a member of the Rotary Club of Hong Kong, the British Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong, the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and the Hong Kong International School A l umni Association. Ms. Eva B.C. L i joined United College in 1965 and retired in 1993. During her 28 years of service, Ms. L i served the College, the University, and a host of government and voluntary agencies in various capacities. She is currently a council member of Hong Chi Association and an associate member of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service. She is also a consultant to the Hong Kong Aged Concern Ltd., and the Hong Kong Buddhist Association (Old People Centres). 偉倫講座 Wei Lun Lecture 加拿大馬尼托巴大學地理系傑出講座教授 P r o f . Eligible appointees should complete an application form for each child and return it with receipts of school fees to the Personnel Office as early as possible. Enquiries should be directed to the Personnel Office (Ext. 7291). Golf Club Membership From the Bursary: The University holds a debenture of the Hong Kong Golf Club (HKGC) in Fanling and is a founding member of the Mission Hills Golf Club ( MHGC) in Shenzhen. Staff from the University may be nominated as members of these two clubs. There are now three openings, one at HKGC and two at MHGC, available for nomination. Terms(A) and equivalent terms staff are invited to bid for the privilege of being the University- nominated member (w.e.f. 1st January 2000) on the following terms and conditions: 1. The minimum bid (monthly charge payable to the University) is $5,000 for HKGC membership and $1 for MHGC membership. 2. Membership is subject to the nominee remaining a full-time Terms A/equivalent employee of the University. 3. The new member pays the non-refundable nomination transfer fee of $10,000 charged by HKGC and $20,000 charged by MHGC. The fee can be paid via payroll deductions over a perio d of one year for HKGC and two years for MHGC. 4. The minimum term is one year for HKGC and two for MHGC, both of which can be extended for another year at the request of the member, subject to agreement by the University. 5. The vice-chancellor has discretion over the assignment of membership. In cases of similar bidding prices, preference w i ll be given to those who have not been a nominee before. 6. In addition to the monthly charge payable to the University, the nominated member is required to pay a monthly membership fee to the golf club concerned, plus other usage charges. 7. The member is required to abide by the rules of the relevant golf club. MH GC has four 18-hole courses, with night golfing available on two of those courses, and a five-star resort hotel plus facilities attached to the golf club. Members can arrange accommodation at discount rates. The club operates a shuttle bus service from their parking lot at Sheung Shui and it takes about 50 minutes to travel from the parking lot to the club. As a founding member, the University has a private locker available for the nominated members' use. The nominated membership also covers the spouse and children under 21 years of age. Eligible staff members who are interested should submit their bids to the Tender Board, do Business Office, G/F, John Fulton Centre, indicating the amount he/she is willing to pay to the University as the monthly charge. Bids for HKGC and MHGC membership by the same person should be submitted separately, in envelopes marked 'Application for Golf Club Membership'. A l l submissions must reach the Tender Board before 2.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 19th October 1999. Applicants w i ll be informed of the results in due course.
