CUHK Newsletter No. 182 19th April 2001 3 宣 布 事 項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 教職員及其配偶普通話和粵語課程 Putonghua and Cantonese Courses for Staff and Their Spouses 新雅中國語文研習所訂於五月三十一 日至八月七日在方樹泉樓再度為本校教職 員及其配偶舉辦下列初級普通話和粵語課 程，上課時間暫定每週二、四下午五時至 六時五十分。 (一）供外籍教職員及其配偶選修之 初級普通話課程。 (二）供外籍教職員及其配偶選修之 初級粵語課程。 (三）供粵籍教職員及其配偶選修之初級普通話課程。 (四）供非粵籍教職員及其配偶選修之初級粵語課程。 以上課程每班限額八人，按報名先後取錄，少於五人不開班。學費全期四千六 百二十港元，凡聘任期不少於兩年之本校全職教職員及其配偶，如未獲任何語言修 習資助者，可獲大學津貼學費四成。有意就學者請於五月二十五日前與該研習所聯 絡(電話二六零九六七二七）。 該所之資料可於網 址 http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/lac 閱 覽。 The New Asia—Yale-in-China Chinese Language Centre will again offer putonghua and Cantonese courses to the University's staff and their spouses. From 31st May to 7th August 2001 the following courses have been tentatively scheduled every Tuesday and Thursday from 5.00 p.m. to 6.50 p.m. at the Fong Shu Chuen Building: (1) Beginner's course in putonghua for non-speakers. (2) Beginner's course in Cantonese for non-speakers. (3) Beginner's course in putonghua for speakers of other Chinese dialects. (4) Beginner's course in Cantonese for speakers of other Chinese dialects. The size of each class will be limited to eight students and the minimum number of students to form a class is five. Enrolment wi ll be on a first-come-first-served basis. Basic tuition fee for each course is HK$4,620. The University will subsidize 40 per cent of the tuition fee for all full-time academic and administrative staff as well as their spouses who are expected to be with the University for at least two years, and who are not receiving a language study subsi dy from any other sourc e. Information of the CLC can be viewed at its website ( http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/ lac). 中大校友慈善電影籌款晚會 Charity Movie Preview— CU Alumni to Raise Funds for Medical Faculty 中大評議會常務委員會將於五月十日晚上九時正，假香港會議展覽中心劇院 I 舉行慈善電影晚會，籌款購置一組醫療健體儀器，贈予中大醫學院公共衛生學院新 設之「活力創庫體育館」，協助該院進一步向市民提供更優質之全面健康護理服務， 藉以祝賀中大醫學院成立二十周年。籌款目標為七十五萬港元，餘額將撥捐香港公 益金。 中大評議會由全體中大畢業生組成。評議會自一九九三年成立以來，經常就本 港社會及教育事務進行評議及發表意見，並每年為社會公益或母校籌款，藉以表達 中大校友對社會事務及母校發展關注之情，曾受惠者有公益金、中大音樂系、中大 校友會聯會教育基金會、威爾斯親王醫院(包括多項醫護發展項目），以及長江水災 災民等。 下月十日的慈善電影晚會會放映《舞動激情 》( Save the Last Dance) ，該片本 年一 月中在美國開畫，即成為票房冠軍。電影晚會票價分五百元及一千元兩種，歡迎中 大教職員及學生訂購入場券，支持校友這項極具意義的籌款活動。購票或查詢詳 情，請與校友事務處聯絡(電話二六零九七八七二及二六零九七八七零；傳真二六 零三六二二六及二六零三六九七九），或瀏覽網頁： http://www.alumni.cuhk.edu.hk/ html/movie.html。 A charity preview of the film 'Save the Last Dance' will be staged by the CUHK Convocation on 10th May 2001 at 9 p.m. in Theatre I of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. The aim of the event is to raise funds for the purchase of medical equipment for the new Active Life Style Gymnasium of the School of Public Health as a congratulatory gift to the CUHK Medical Faculty on the 20th anniversary of its founding. The target of this fund raising project is HK$750,000. Funds raised in excess of this amount will be donated to the Hong Kong Community Chest. The CUHK Convocation is a statutory body of the University with all graduates as its members. Since its establishment in 1993, the Convocation has released from time to time opinion papers on current issues relating to social and educational policies in Hong Kong, and staged fund-raising projects on an annual basis to support the development of the University and for the welfare of the community-at-large. Beneficiaries have included the Community Chest, the CUHK Music Department, the Education Foundation of the Federation of CUHK Alumni Associations, several medical development projects of the University's teaching hospital, and flood victims in China. 'Save the Last Dance' made the top spot at the movie box office when first released in the US in January this year. Tickets for the preview are sold at HK$500 or $1,000 each. Staff and students are welcome to purchase tickets of this special preview and support the alumni's fund-raising project. Ms. Ting first joined the University in May 1989.
