Staff from the University may be nominated as members of these two clubs. There are now two openings, one at the HKGC and the other at the MHGC, available for nomination. Terms (A) and equivalent terms staff are invited to bid for the privilege of being the University-nominated member (with effect from 1st January 2004) on the following terms and conditions: 1. The minimum bid (monthly charge payable t o the University) i s $5,000 fo r HKGC membership and $1 for MHGC membership. 2. Membership is subject to the nominee remaining a full-time Terms (A)/equivalent employee of the University. 3. The new member pays the non-refundable nomination transfer fee of $10,000 charged by the HKGC and $20,000 charged by the MHGC. The fee can be paid via payroll deductions over a period of one year for the HKGC and two years for the MHGC. 4. The minimum term is one year for the HKGC and two for the MHGC, both o f which can be extended for another year at the request of the member, subject to agreement by the University. 5. The vice-chancellor has discretion over the assignment of membership. In case of similar bidding prices, preference will be given to those who have not been nominated before. 6. I n addition t o the monthly charge payable t o the University, the nominated member is required to pay a monthly membership fee to the golf club concerned, plus other usage charges. 7. The member is required to abide by the rules of the relevant golf club. Presently, the MHGC has five 18-hole courses, with night golfing available on two. Three new 18-hole courses will be open by the end of November, and two other 18-hole courses will be completed within a year. The MHGC also has a five-star resort hotel plus facilities attached to the golf club. Members can arrange accommodation at discounted rates. The club operates a shuttle bus service from their parking lot at San Tin and i t takes about 50 minutes to travel from the parking lot to the club. The nominated membership also covers spouse and children under 21 years of age. Eligible staff members who are interested should submit their bids t o the Tender Board, c/o Business Office, G/F, John Fulton Centre, indicating the amount he/she is willing t o pay t o the University as the monthly charge. Bids for HKGC and MHGC membership by the same person should be submitted separately i n envelopes marked 'Application for Golf Club Membership'. All submissions must reach the Tender Board before 2.30 p.m. on Thursday, 20th November 2003. Applicants will be informed of the results in due course. Please note that transfer documentation normally takes three weeks to complete, which means the new membership will become effective in mid-late January 2004. A staff nominated b y the University t o take up the membership i s eligible t o use the club's facilities including the function rooms, the sports facilities located at Park Lane Hotel, and the reciprocal arrangements that the club has made with the Grand Royal Club, Sha Tin Race Course private box, and a number of golf clubs. Full-time Terms (A) or equivalent staff members are invited to bid for the privilege of being the University's nominee with effect from 1st January 2004. The minimum bid, i.e. the monthly charge payable to the University, is HK$150. I n the case o f identical bids, preference wi ll b e given t o staff with longer service. Membership, subject t o the nominee remaining a full-time Terms (A) o r equivalent employee of the University, has a minimum term of two years and can be extended for another year at the member's request and with the University's agreement. The new member pays a transfer fee of HK$3,000 charged by the WTCC as well as a monthly membership fee of HK$880 (inclusive of spouse and children between 16 and 21 years of age). The transfer fee is refundable if the staff keeps his/her membership for over two years. No pro-rata refund will be made. Eligible and interested staff members should submit their bids to the Tender Board, c/o Business Office, G/F, John Fulton Centre, i n envelopes marked 'Application fo r World Trade Centre Club M embership' before 2.30 p.m. on 20th Nove mber 2003.
