宣布事項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 新任講座教授 Professorial Appointment 大學委任徐揚生教授為自動化與計算機輔助工 程學講座教授，任期由二零零四年十月一日起生效。 徐教授一九八九年取得賓 夕法尼亞大學哲學博士學位， 是三個專業學會的院士，九七 年加入中大服務，二零零零年 晉升為教授。 Prof. Xu Yangsheng has been appointed professor of automation and computer-aided engineering from 1st October 2004. Prof. Xu received his Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in 1989. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, the International Eurasian Academy of Science, and the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers. He joined The Chinese University as associate professor in the Department of Automation and Computer-Aided Engineering in 1997, becoming professor in 2000. 榮休講座教授 New Emeritus Professor 經教務會推薦，並依據香港中文大學規程2 1規定，大學校董會通過頒授計算機 科學與工程學榮休講座教授銜予黃澤權教授，由二零零四年九月一日起生效。 黃澤權教授一九九五年加入本校服務，出任電子計算學講座教授，並於九五至 九七年擔任計算機科學與工程學系系主任；本年九月一日榮休。 黃教授對大學及學系貢獻良多，尤以革新及重整計算機科 學與計算機工程學兩項課程。 黃教授持有四項美國專利發明，出版近三百篇學術論文和 編著了三本書。他是美國電機暨電子工程師學會和計算機器學 會的院士，以及多種國際著名期刊的編委或主編。 In accordance with Statute 21 of The Chinese University of Hong Kong Ordinance, Prof. Wong Chak-kuen was awarded the title of Emeritus Professor of Computer Science and Engineering from 1st September 2004. Prof. Wong joined The Chinese University as professor of computer science in 1995, and served as chairman of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from 1995 to 1997. He retired from the University on 1st September 2004. Among his many contributions to the University, his reshaping of the Computer Science Programme and the revamping of the Computer Engineering Programme are most noteworthy. Prof. Wong is a world-class researcher with four US patents, three books, and 300 papers under his name. He is a fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers and the Association for Computing Machinery. 新設課程及課程易名 New Programmes and Name Change 教務會於十月六日核准由二零零五至二零零六年度起開設下列自資的學位課程： •社會醫學哲學博士課程 •社會醫學哲學碩士課程 •社會學文學碩士課程 •體育學文學碩士課程 •學生活動教育文學碩士課程 •應用流行病學理學碩士課程 •食品營養與科技理學碩士課程 •應用社會研究社會科學碩士課程 教務會又核准將環球工商管理碩士課程易名為「環球行政人員工商管理碩士課 程」，並追溯至二零零三年度入學學生開始生效。 The Senate approved at its meeting on 6th October 2004 the introduction of the following self-financed programmes in 2005-6: • Doctor of Philosophy Programme in Social Medicine • Master of Philosophy Programme in Social Medicine • Master of Arts Programme in Sociology • Master of Arts Programme in Sports Studies • Master of Arts Programme in Student Activities in Education • Master of Science Programme in Applied Epidemiology • Master of Science Programme in Nutrition, Food Science and Technology • Master of Social Science Programme in Applied Social Research The Senate also approved the name change of the OneMBA Global Program to 'OneMBA, Global Executive MBA Program' with retroactive effect from the 2003 intake. 平安夜、新年除夕及農曆新年除夕之辦公安排 Staffing Arrangements on Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve and Chinese New Year's Eve 根據大學關於平安夜、新年除夕及農曆新年除夕辦公之安排，所有部門於二零 零四年十二月二十四日（星期五）、十二月三十一日（星期五)及二零零五年二月八日 (星期二)上午須留有職員值班。當值之職員〔（乙)或 (丙)類服務條例〕可獲補假半天。 上述安排對保健處、大學圖書館系統、資訊科 技服務處之電算機操作組、保安組、交通組、物業 管理處等部門並不適用。該等部門須留有足夠人手 以維持基本服務。 The following staffing arrangements for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve, and Chinese New Year's Eve w i ll apply on Friday, 24th December 2004; Friday, 31 st December 2004; and Tuesday, 8th February 2005. 1. For essential service units such as the University Health Service, the University Library System, the Operations Team of the Information Technology Services Centre, the Security Unit, the Transport Unit, and the Estates Management Office, a task force should remain on duty to provide basic services. 2. For all other offices in the University, skeleton staff should be on duty on these mornings to handle urgent matters and enquiries. These offices w i ll be closed in the afternoon. 3. The skeleton staff [on Terms (B) or (C)] on duty on each morning w i ll be given compensation o ff of half a day. 提前發放薪金 Advancement of Pay Date 二零零四年十二月份之薪金將提前於十二月二十一日（星期二)發放。查詢可聯 絡薪津及公積金組(電話二六零九七二四零/七二四六）。 The salary payment date for December 2004 w i ll be advanced to 21st December 2004 (Tuesday). Enquiries can be directed to Payroll and Superannuation Unit (2609 7240/7246). 辦理延長工作簽證 Visa Extension 大學同人若沒有香港居留權，請留意本身的香港工作簽證期限，並須於逗留期 限屆滿前四星期內，向政府有關部門申請延長簽證。申請時須提供的大學在職證 明，可聯絡人事處(電話二六零九七一七九/七二七二/七二九二)索取。 同人可於網上 ( http://www.esd.gov.hk) 預約，到入境事務處分區辦事處辦理申請 手續，惟不適用於必須在入境處總部遞交申請者。 Staff members who do not hold the right of abode in Hong Kong are reminded to check the validity of their employment visas. They should arrange to renew their employment visas within four weeks prior to the expiry date. Application for extension of employment visa requires a sponsorship letter from the University to certify the staff member's employment status. Staff members may approach the Personnel Office (Tel: 2609 7179/7272/7292) for the said sponsorship letter. Staff members can make appointment for visa extension via the Internet at http://www.esd.gov.hk t o save the need for queuing at Immigration Branch Offices.
