Information in this section can only  be accessed with CWEM password .   若要瀏覽本部分的資料， 請須輸 入 中大校園電子郵件密碼 。 宣布事項 ANNOUNCEMENTS 博文講座教授 Distinguished Professor-at-Large 大學委任姚期智教授出任博文講座教授，任期由二零零五年一 月三日起生效。 姚教授自台灣大學畢業後，負笈美國，先後取得哈佛大學物理 學博士學位和伊利諾大學計算機科學博士學位。他曾於麻省理工學 院、史丹福大學、柏克萊加州大學任教，加入中大服務之前，為普 林斯頓大學工程及應用科學教授。 姚教授屢獲獎譽，其中包括二零零零年的杜林獎。該獎項譽稱為計算機科學的諾貝 爾獎，是行內最高榮譽。姚教授是迄今唯一獲此殊榮的華人。 姚教授是多個重要學院及研究院的院士，去年又獲選為中國科學院外籍院士。 Prof. Andrew Yao Chi-chih has been appointed Distinguished Professor-at-Large from 3rd January 2005. Prof. Yao has taught mathematics at MIT, and computer science at Stanford University and U.C. Berkeley. Prior to joining CUHK, he was William and Edna Macaleer Professor of Engineering and Applied Science of Princeton University. He has also been a consultant to DEC Systems Research Centre, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Microsoft Research Asia. Prof. Yao was the first Chinese scientist to receive in 2000 the Turing Award, which is regarded as the Nobel Prize in computer science. He has been a member of the US National Academy of Sciences, Academia Sinica, and a foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. He has also been a fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Prof. Yao's research interests are analysis of algorithms, computational complexity, communication complexity, cryptographic protocols, and quantum computing. 本年度員工優異服務獎接受提名 Exemplary Service Award 2004-2005 二零零四至二零零零五年度員工優異服務獎已接受提名。此獎項由員工培訓及發展 委員會舉辦，旨在嘉許於顧客服務中有出色表現的非教學人員，名額五至十個，得獎者 各可獲獎牌一面及現金禮券，所有按乙或丙類服務條例或相類條件聘用的中大全職非教 學僱員，皆可接受提名。 大學員生建議提名的截止日期為二月十九日，系主任或部門主管最終提名的截止日 期則為三月十二日。員工培訓及發展委員會已致函各部門主管，籲請他們踴躍支持選 舉，嘉獎提供優異服務的員工。 有關詳情及下載建議提名表格，可瀏覽網頁 http://www.cuhk.edu.hk/esa。 查 詢請電 二六零九八六零七或二六零九七二六七。 The Exemplary Service Award 2004-5 is now open for nomination. The award, organized by the Staff Training and Development Committee, aims at recognizing non-teaching staff of the University who provide outstanding service to their clients. These w i ll be five to 10 awards. A trophy and a gift coupon w i ll be presented to each awardee. A l l full-time Terms of Service (B)/(C) and equivalent non-teaching staff are eligible for nomination. The deadline for recommendation for nomination from the University students and staff is 19th February 2005 while the deadline for nomination from department chairmen/ unit heads is 12th March 2005. Invitation for nomination has been sent to department chairmen and unit heads by the committee. Enquiries may be made to 2609 8607 or 2609 7267. 除夕之辦公安排 Staffing Arrangements on Chinese New Year's Eve 根據大學關於除夕之辦公安排，所有部門於二零零五年二月八日（星期二）上午須 留有職員值班。當值之職員〔（乙）或（丙）類服務條例〕可獲補假半天。 上述安排對保健處、大學圖書館系統、資訊科技服務處之電算機操作組、保安組、 交通組、物業管理處等部門並不適用。該等部門須留有足夠人手以維持基本服務。 The following staffing arrangements for Chinese New Year's Eve will apply on Tuesday, 8th February 2005. 1. For essential service units such as the University Health Service, the University Library System, the Operations Team of the Information Technology Services Centre, the Security Unit, the Transport Unit, and the Estates Management Office, a task force should remain on duty to provide basic services. 2. For all other offices in the University, skeleton staff should be on duty on that morning to handle urgent matters and enquiries. These offices will be closed in the afternoon. 3.
