Now i n it s fourt h year , th e CP A Q P Cas e Analysi s Compe t i t i on aim s a t d e v e l o p i n g busines s skill s an d professional judgmen t o f undergraduates , preparin g them fo r the CPA QP . Out o f the 11 8 entries from eigh t universities , teams from CUHK, H K PolyU , Shu e Yan College , HKUST , an d HK U ha d been shortliste d t o ente r the finals . The si x membe r judging pane l include d Mr . Edwar d K.F . Chow, presiden t o f th e institute , counci l member s o f th e institute, an d senior representative s o f renowned accountanc y and commercia l firms . Entry t o th e CP A Q P Cas e Analysi s Competitio n 200 5 was o n a tea m basis . I n th e firs t round , eac h tea m wa s requested t o submi t a written Englis h repor t o f 2,00 0 word s which wa s evaluate d throug h a blind review . I n the secon d round, th e eigh t finalist s eac h gav e a 20-minute presentatio n on thei r busines s pla n whic h ha d bee n develope d fo r th e purpose o f securin g a loan . Japhet Sebastian Law, professor in the Departmen t of Decisio n Science s an d Managerial Economics , ha s been appointed by th e Chie f Executive o f the HKSA R as the vice-chairma n o f th e Licensin g Appeal s Boar d under th e Publi c Healt h an d Mu n i c i p a l Service s Ordinance fo r tw o year s from 1s t January 2006 . • Prof . She k Tan Lei Daniel, professor i n the Departmen t of Socia l Work, an d Prof. Tam Si u Mi Maria , associat e professor i n the Department of Anthropology, have both been appointed by th e Chie f Executive o f the HKSA R as members of the Women's Commission for three years from 15t h January 2006 . • Prof . Wong Chac k Kie , professor i n the Department o f Social Work, has been appointed as a part-time membe r of the Central Policy Unit fo r one year from 1s t January 2006. Award • Prof . L o Yu k M i n g Dennis , professo r o f chemica l pathology, ha s been selected as the winner o f the 200 6 IFCC-Abbott Awar d fo r Significan t Contribution s t o Molecular Diagnostic s fo r hi s fundamenta l biologica l observations o n the biology o f plasma nucleic acid s an d his developmen t o f ne w an d e x c i t i n g c l i n i c a l applications base d on these observations.
