4 No. 401, 19.8.2012 國際社會學會會議 International Sociological Association Meeting 國際社會學會社會分層與流動研究委員會2012年春季會議，在5月10至13日於中大舉行。是次會議由中大社會學系及 香港科技大學應用社會經濟研究中心合辦，題為「比較視野中的經濟轉型與社會分層」。 The Department of Sociology co-hosted the 2012 spring meeting of the Research Committee on Social Stratification and Mobility (RC28) of the International Sociological Association with the Centre for Applied Social and Economic Research, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. With the theme ‘Economic Transformation and Social Stratification in Comparative Perspectives’, the conference took place from 10 to 13 May on CUHK campus. 戈登學術會議 Gordon Research Conferences Meeting 中大於6月24至29日首次舉辦戈登學術會 議（GRC），主題為「植物的鹽分和水分脅 迫」。GRC是世界知名的組織，為生物、化學 和物理科學領域提供學術交流的國際論壇。 CUHK hosted for the first time a Gordon Research Conferences (GRC) meeting on ‘Salt and Water Stress in Plants’ from 24 to 29 June. GRC is a world renowned organization that provides an international forum for high-level academic exchange in the fields of biological, chemical and physical sciences. 中國城市住宅研究中心赴馬交流 Center for Housing Innovations Visits Malaysia 中國城市住宅研究中心主任鄒經宇教授（ 右四 ）在於7月 初率領中國綠色建築與節能委員會香港代表團，到馬來 西亞吉隆坡參加第三屆「熱帶、亞熱帶地區綠色建築聯 盟論壇」。 Prof. Tsou Jin-yeu ( 4th right ), director of the Center for Housing Innovations, CUHK, led a delegation from the China Green Building (Hong Kong) Council to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to take part in the Third Annual Tropical Subtropical Green Building Alliance Conference in early July. 綠色大學聯盟環保交流營 Cross-Strait Green University Consortium Summer Camp 來自中大、南京大學和台灣中央大學共三十名學生，7月 2至8日在南京參加第二屆兩岸三地綠色大學聯盟環保交 流營。 Thirty students from CUHK, Nanjing University, and Taiwan’s Central University participated in the Second Green Summer Camp under the Cross-Strait Green University Consortium from 2 to 8 July 2012 in Nanjing. 陳述彭地球信息科學書廊揭幕 Chen Shupeng Geoinformation Science Book Gallery Unveiled 太空與地球信息科學研究所獲中國宋慶齡基金會慷慨捐 贈人民幣一百萬元，用於建設書廊、舉辦國際會議及設 立獎助學金等項目。書廊命名為「陳述彭地球信息科學 書廊」，於7月5日揭幕。  The Institute of Space and Earth Information Science has received a donation of RMB 1 million from the China Soong Ching Ling Foundation for establishing a book gallery, organizing conferences and setting up scholarships. Unveiled on 5 July, the gallery is named Chen Shupeng Geoinformation Science Book Gallery. 科技異彩夏令營 EX.I.T.E Camp 三十六位來自香港、澳門、廣州，即將升讀中三的女生， 參加了工程學院與國際商業機器中國香港有限公司於7月 22至26日合辦的「科技異彩夏令營」。該活動旨在啟發 初中女生對科技和工程專業領域的興趣。 Thirty-six girls entering Secondary 3 from schools in Hong Kong, Macau and Guangzhou took part in the Exploring Interest in Technology and Engineering (EX.I.T.E) Camp co-organized by CUHK and IBM China/ Hong Kong Limited. Held from 22 to 26 July, the event was aimed at kindling the interest of young girls in the fields of technology and engineering.
