No. 404, 4.10.2012 5 邵逸夫獎得主演講 Shaw Prize Laureates Lecture at CUHK 2 012年邵逸夫天文 學獎得主劉麗杏教授 （ 左 ）及大衞．朱維特 教授（ 右 ）於9月18日 親臨逸夫書院，分別 以「擴展太陽系：凱伯 帶的發現」及「凱伯 帶：我們已知與未知 的事情」為題演講，吸 引近三百六十人參加。  劉麗杏教授為麻省理 工學院林肯實驗室的 科學家，朱維特教授則為洛杉磯加州大學教授暨行星與太陽系外行星研究院主任。兩 位傑出學者榮獲2012年邵逸夫天文學獎，表彰他們發現海王星以外物體及描述其特 性，為研究太陽系最初之形成及追尋短周期彗星來源提供寶貴資料。 Prof. Jane Luu ( left ) and Prof. David C. Jewitt ( right ), Shaw Laureates in Astronomy 2012, lectured on ‘Expanding the Solar System: The Kuiper Belt Discovery’ and ‘Kuiper Belt: What We Know and What We Don’t’, respectively, on 18 September. The lectures attracted an audience of close to 360.  The Shaw Prize in Astronomy 2012 was awarded to Prof. Jane Luu, technical staff of Lincoln Laboratory of Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Prof. David C. Jewitt, Professor of Astronomy and the director of Institute for Planets and Exoplanets, University of California, Los Angeles, in recognition of their discovery and characterization of trans-Neptunian bodies, an archeological treasure dating back to the formation of the solar system and the long-sought source of short period comets. 藝術系畢業生獲香港當代藝術獎 Fine Arts Graduates Win HK Contemporary Art Awards 由康樂及文化事 務署主辦、香港 藝術館籌劃的大 型公開藝術比賽 「香港當代藝術 獎2012」，於8月 31日選出得獎項 目。中大藝術系 2008年畢業生何倩彤（ 左 ）和賴筠婷（ 中 ），分別以名為《吾友烏有》的裝置藝術，以及 題為《車廂》的中國繪畫，獲香港當代藝術獎。賴筠婷亦為2011年中大藝術系碩士畢業 生。至於2003年畢業的徐沛之（ 右 ）則憑中國書法《草書黃偉文〈陀飛輪〉》，獲青年藝 術家獎。評審在一千九百多件參賽作品中選出的十四項得獎作品，將連同其餘八十三項 獲選作品，於明年在香港藝術館展出。 As announced by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) on 31 August, Ho Sin-tung ( left ) and Lai Kwan-ting ( centre ), Fine Arts graduates in 2008, have won the Hong Kong Contemporary Art Awards 2012, one of the largest open art competitions in Hong Kong presented by the LCSD and organized by the Hong Kong Museum of Art. Ho’s winning installation is entitled Hong Kong Inter-vivos Film Festival , and Lai’s winning Chinese painting was named Car Compartment . Lai was conferred a Master of Fine Arts degree by the University in 2011. Another winner, Chui Pui-chee ( right ), a 2003 graduate, won the Young Artists Award with his Chinese calligraphy work Wyman Wong’s Lyrics ‘TourBillion’ in Running Script . Fourteen winning works were selected from more than 1,900 entries this year. They will be presented at an exhibition to be held at the Hong Kong Museum of Art next year together with other 83 selected works. 《奧斯汀，2010》 張燦輝教授，1974年畢業於中大哲學系，現為崇基學院資深導師。作品選自「我與他人—張燦 輝黑白攝影展」，正於崇基學院行政樓大堂展覽廳舉行，展期至10月21日。 「在這次攝影展中， 我希望捕捉周遭人物活靈活現的神態， 同時把自己攝入鏡頭， 刻劃看與被看之間的微妙關係。」 Austin, 2010 Prof. Cheung Chan-fai graduated from the Department of Philosophy, CUHK in 1974, and is currently a senior tutor of Chung Chi College. The photo is one of the exhibits in ‘Self and Others–B&W Photography by Cheung Chan-fai’ exhibition staged at the Lobby Gallery, Chung Chi College Administration Building until 12 October. ‘In this exhibition, I tried to photograph others as living people in front of me; as well as myself as the photographer who can also be seen in the photographs.’
