The honour is given to researchers who published a high number of papers that rank in the top 1% most-cited in their respective fields of study and year of publication. First Hong Kong Scholars Elected IAAP Fellows Prof. Fanny M.C. Cheung (left), Pro-Vice- Chancellor and Choh-Ming Li Professor of Psychology, and Prof. Hau Kit-tai (right), Choh-Ming Li Professor of Educational Psychology, have been elected Fellows of the International Association of Applied Psychology (IAAP) at the International Congresses of Applied Psychology held in Montreal, Canada in June 2018. They are the first Hong Kong scholars to receive this honour. Professor Cheung plays a leading role in developing and validating culturally relevant assessment tools in applied psychology. Professor Hau’s research areas cover motivation, psychometrics, research methodology and large scale educational monitoring. Multidisciplinary Cancer Care TeamAwarded A cancer team from the Department of Clinical Oncology has recently received the Cancer Care Team Award from the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) Foundation, recognizing its multidisciplinary team for providing outstanding care for lung cancer patients. Nominations for the Award were made by patients from all over the world. The team led by Dr. Herbert Ho-fung Loong (centre), Assistant Professor (Clinical) of the department, excelled in the ’Asia and Rest of World’ category. His team consists of 13 members including oncologists, nurses, research assistants and pharmacists. Overseas Impactful Award for Sinology The Institute of Chinese Studies of CUHK has won the Overseas Impactful Award for Sinology in the ‘Tribute to Sinology: The 3rd Sinology Ceremony for Global Chinese’ for its contributions to helping the Chinese scholars gain the cutting-edge research methods and academic ideology and sharing Chinese humanistic tradition and wisdom with its overseas counterparts over the past half- century. The Institute is the first Hong Kong institution receiving the prestigious award in sinology. Vice-Chancellor Conferred China Association of Inventions Fellowship Vice-Chancellor Prof. Rocky S. Tuan was elected to the first batch of China Association of Inventions (CAI) Fellows in recognition of his distinguished achievement in innovative inventions and his contributions to CAI. Professor Tuan, the only recipient of the fellowship from Hong Kong, was bestowed the honour at the CAI Fellow certificate presentation ceremony held in tandem with the 10th International Exhibition of Invention and the 3rd World Invention and Innovation Forum that took place in Foshan, Guangdong Province.
