The sixth ‘Taiwan─HK Sociology and Social Image Conference’ was held on campus on 12 and 13 April. Jointly co-organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Asia-Pacific Studies (HKIAPS) and the Department of Sociology, CUHK and the Institute of Sociology, Academia Sinica, Taiwan, the conference attracted over 20 scholars from Taiwan and Hong Kong. A total of 13 papers were presented, covering topics such as marriage and family, youth and family, patterns and effects of China relations, aging and politics, and youth and politics.
At the opening ceremony, Prof. Fanny M.C. Cheung (2nd left, front row), Pro-Vice-Chancellor of CUHK and director of the HKIAPS; Prof. Hsiao Hsin-huang Michael (1st left, front row), director of Institute of Sociology; and Prof. Cheung Yuet-wah (centre, front row), chairman of the Department of Sociology, welcomed all participants and shared their insight on social research in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
