Family-centred Residential Child Care

The 'Family-centred Practice in Residential Child Care Services' seminar, jointly organized by the Family and Group Practice Research Centre of the Department of Social Work and the S.K.H. St. Christopher's Home, was held on November 21 as a kick-off for celebrating St. Christopher's Home's 80th anniversary.

Prof. Ma Lai-chong (6th left), chairperson of the Department of Social Work, Ms. Wong Mei-ching (5th left), PhD candidate of the department, and the service team of St. Christopher's Home shared the practices of family-centred care in the field of residential child care services from a macro perspective and a micro level intervention. Concepts of family-centred practice were introduced to promote a more holistic picture in designing the services and to strengthen the role of biological family in the service system.
