Appendix 1iii • Amendments to Ordinance and Statutes of the University Amendments to Ordinance and Statutes of the University (CAP 1109) from 1st August 1987 to 31st July 1990 Date of Approval Given by Chancellor Particulars 16th January 1988 Statute 11 was amended to provide for the re-election or re-nomination of Council members for a period of less than three years. 23rd August 1988 Statutes 3,10 and 14 were amended to provide for the following: (i) designation of the Director of Student Affairs as a member of the University; (ii) appointment of and assignment of duties, including Senate membership, to the Director of Student Affairs; (iii) admission of student representatives t o Senate membership with specific provisions on their participation in reserved areas of business; and (iv) consequential amendments to the number of Senate members required for a quorum and other matters relating to Senate meetings. 30th March 1989 Statute 26 was amended for the purpose of (i) providing for the conferment of new degrees in Education; and (ii) doing away with the previous classification of degrees by reference to the Faculties. 16th January 1990 Statute 26 was amended for the purpose of providing for the new Bachelor of Medical Sciences (B.Med.Sc.) degree. 6th May 1990 Statute 14 was amended for the purpose of adding a fifth student member to the Senate. 41
