Jen worked con cu rre n tly in the M in is try o f Education and served as the Dean o f the N a tion a l Kw e ich ow U n iv e rs ity Ι it was so arranged by the M in is try o f Education th a t he served 6 months in ro ta tio n at each o f these in s titu tio n s . M r. Jen was also appointed the A c tin g President o f the N a tion a l Kw e ich ow U n iv e rs ity and the N ational Y unnan U n i versity in 1949. In 1950, M r. Jen taught at N ew Asia College as Head o f the E nglish Depa rtm ent, and from 1951 to 1953 he served in the same capacity at Chung C h i College. In 1953, M r. T he re he taught as Southeast Asia Exchange Professor on Comparative L ite ra tu re and Confucianism at bo th the U n iv e rs ity o f the P h ilip pines and S illim an U n iv e rs ity . A fte r his stay in the P h ilip pines, M r. Jen went to Singapore as Professor o f E ng lish Language and L ite ra tu re and Head o f the D e pa rtm ent o f M od e rn Languages o f Nanyang U n i versity from 1957 to 1960. In 1960, M r. Jen returned to H o ng K o n g to jo in the E nglish D e pa rtm ent o f the U n ite d College as Senior L e c tu re r and Head o f the D epartm ent. M r. Jen represented the R epublic o f China as a delegate to the Congress o f Am erican Poets in N ew Y o rk in 1936. He was also a member and the spokes man o f the delegation o f the Republic o f China to the Conference o f the W o rld Confederation o f O rganiza tions o f the Teach ing Profession at M a n ila in 1957. M r. Jen has w ritte n numerous publications, in clu d in g poems, essays Δ book reviews, and w ritin g s fo r the Chinese G overnm ent in both Chinese and English. M a n y o f these have been published in books, magazines and newspapers in China, England, the U n ite d States, the P hilippines, and H o ng K ong. In recognition o f his w o rk as the co-translator o f the Ch 'ien Ha n Shu (Pan K u ’s H is to ry o f the F orm er Han D ynasty), he was awarded the Stanislaus Julian Prize in 1947 by the A cadem ie des In scrip tion s et Belle Lettre s, In s titu te de France. C hung graduated from Am o y U n iv e rs ity in Chinese L ite ra tu re in 1930 and began his teaching career at N a tion a l Sun Yat-Sen U n iv e rs ity in Canton in the same year. H e was later prom oted from the rank o f le ctu rer to Associate Professor and Professor. W hen he came to H o ng K o n g in 1949, he taught in various secondary schools fo r three years. M r . Chung jo in e d the fa cu lty o f C hung C h i College in 1953 and in 1956 he became the C hairm an o f the D e pa rtm ent o f Chinese Language and Lite ra tu re . M r .
