COLLEGE REPORTS Summer English Course N ew Asia College and Williams College of U .S .A . will again organize a S umm e r English class in July this year. Classes will be given at N ew Asia and the p u rp o se is to aid local English teachers and social welfare workers to attain a better standard of English. S tu d en ts will be divided into two gro u ps and m any applications have been received. Literary Contest A literary contest was sponsored by N ew Asia College to p rom o te stu d e n ts' interest in Chinese litera ture. T h e following were the p rize-w inners: Chinese E ssa y : M r. Table Tennis T h e C h u n g Chi T a b le T e n n is T e am won five events in the T a b le T e n n is Competition sponsored by th e Post-secondary Colleges Sports Association. T h e y were th e M e n 's T e am Champ ion ship , L adies' T e am Champ io nsh ip , M e n 's D o ub le C hampionship, L adies' D o u b le Champio n ship , and M ixed D o ub le C h am p io n ­ ship. Volly Ball T h e Volley Ball T e am of C h u n g Chi also scored an overwhelm ing success in the Volley Ball Competition by defeating C h u Hai and Baptist College. T h e players were: L ee Wai M in g (Captain), Ho Yue T in g, W u K ew Ying, L u i M an T o , Lai H o n M ing, L am D in g Yee, T in K am Chung, L e u n g Chi K u n , N g Shing Fung, T a n g Po K in, Ch iu K uen Wai, Wang Ch ih Hao. 13th Anniversary In celebration of its 13th year of foundation, the S tu d e n ts ’ U n io n of C h u n g Chi College recently held an interhouse dram a competition. T h e Ho u se of th e Su n carried away th e trop h y w ith an excellent performance in “ T h e F am ine Y e ar ”, the ru n n ers up were " A T e arfu l G o o d b y e " by T h e Ho use of D awn and “ T h e Power of M o n e y " by th e Ho u se of Charity. M r. L o C h u n g K u en and M iss D an Yuk Siu won the awards of b est actor and actress respectively. Kuo- Yu, please T o achieve b etter fluency in M an d arin , the S tu d e n t U n io n of C h u n g Chi opened a M an d arin class in th e beginning of th e Sp rin g T e rm . T h e tutors were M r. L u n g Yu L u n g and M iss L am L in Sen of the D e p a rtm e n t of Chinese. T h e week between M ay 7 and 14 was dedicated "M a n d a rin W e ek " for all College staff and students. M an d arin was used on all occasions d urin g the week. Sound of Music T h e new Music Society and the C h am b e r of Mu sic of C h u n g Chi College held a jo in t concert on April 30. Both Western and Chinese compositions were featured. Art of Drama T h e C h u n g Chi D ram a C lub and th e Hong K o n g Stage Association held a jo in t exhibition of “ T h e A rt of D ram a " on May 7 and 8 at th e C h u n g Chi S tu d e n ts' Centre. Models, masks, costumes, scripts and p u p p e ts were displayed. Donation to the Needy M rs. L am Ngai Pak has d onated $100,000 to th e C h u n g Chi College F u n d to comm emorate her late hu sband . P resid en t C .T . Y u n g has accepted th e donation on b ehalf of th e College. T h e money will be handled by th e College Board of Governors and distributed to needy stu d en ts on th e recomm en d atio n of th e College Scholarship/Bursary Comm ittee. Farewell Party T h e Staff Association of C h u n g Chi College held a d in n er at th e Princess G arden, Kowloon, on M ay 18 to bid farewell to its retiring members. T h e y w e r e : M r. Jo h n S. Barr (D e p artm e n t of English L a n g u age & Literature), M r. Eugene Yeh (D e p artm en t of English L anguage & L ite ra tu re ), M r. T u n g Kwong H sieh (D e p a rtm e n t of Econom ics an d Business A dm inis tration), and M rs. S.W. T o n g Ch eu n g (Wom en's Hostel). Graduation Time T h e S tu d e n ts' U nio n of C h u n g Chi College will hold a graduates ball at th e M an d arin H otel on July 8 at 8 p.m . A large attendance is expected. T h e 11th G rad u ation and Baccalaureate Ceremony will be held on Ju ly 4 , 1965 at 5:00 p.m. in the College Chapel. Religious service will be co n ducted and B ishop R .O . Hall, one of the founders of the College. 7
