Professor Ma t s umo to is now V i s i t i ng Professor of Japanology to T h e Chinese Un i v e r s i t y. T h e lecture was sponsored by the Chinese Society of C h u n g C h i College. Δ M r . D o n a ld J. Fraser, Senior Education Officer ( Mu s i c) of H o n g K o n g Go v e r nme n t , visited C h u ng C h i College's De p a r t me nt of Mu s ic on A p r i l 20 wh i le attending a meeting o f the Board of Studies for Philoso- phy, Religious Kn ow l e d g e, Fine Arts, and Mu s ic on the campus. He gave a talk to the music education class on his experience of being a musician and a music educator. Δ M r . Wa t t M o K i , a member of the Board of Governors of C h u ng C h i College, has donated H K $ 5,000 to establish a physic s prize in the College. Each year th e interest f r om the amount is to be used t o award gold medals to 4 th year students and a prize to the best 3rd year student in the Physics De p a r t me n t. Δ A b o ok e n t i t l ed Political Science in South and Southeast Asia (208 pages) edited by D r . S.S. Hsueh, Reader in Public Adm i n i s t r a t i on assigned to U n i t ed College, was published in Ma n i la in M a r c h 1967 by the Asian Political Science Association. D r . Hs u eh was interviewed on this publication by Radio H o ng K o n g for broadcast o n A p r i l 2 and 7. T h e book is the second of a series of publications i n this field by D r . Hsueh . H is first edited book, Public Administra- tion in South and Southeast A s i a , was p u b l i s h ed i n 1962 by the International Institute of Adm i n i s t r a t i ve Sciences in Brussels. He is currently engaged in a major research project o n administrative reforms for national development in Southeast Asia . Δ D r . Y . K . Chau, Ch a i rman of the Chemistry De p a r t me n t, C h u ng Chi College, published w i t h Professor J.P. Riley a paper on “ T h e De t e rm i n a t i on of Am i n o Acids in Se a Wa t e r ”, in Deep Sea Research, Vo l. 13, pp. 1115-1124, 1966. Δ D r. Feng Sh i h - y u, L e c t u r er in Physics, C h u ng Ch i College published a paper on “A Proposal to Measure the T r a n s i t i on Probabilities in a F o ur level Paramagnetic System” in the Journal of the Physical Society of Japan V o l . 2 1 ” N o . 1 0 , O c t . 1966. Δ T h e annual staff retreat of C h u ng Chi College this year was hel d at M r , and M r s . K . C . Pang's home at Deep Water Bay on A p r i l 21. M r . Pang is a member of the College Board of Governors. Over a hund r ed staff members of th e College together w i t h their families participated. I n the mo r n i n g sessions, group discussions on “Gene- ral Education” were held wh i le the afternoon session centered around recreational activities. Δ A “ G e t T o K n o w C h r i s t” e x h i b i t i on was held by the N ew Asia Catholic Student's Association on A p r i l 7-8, at w h i ch valuable relics, documents and pictures of the Catholic C h u r ch were displayed. A religious picture, “ T h e R o b e ” , w as show n on the even- i ng of A p r i l 8. Over 1,000 guests attended the ex- hibition. A T h e Second A n n u al Recital by students of the Mu s ic De p a r t me n t, C h u ng Ch i College, was held i n the College Chapel on the evening of A p r i l 14. I n c l u d ed in the p r o g r amme were Chinese songs as we ll as organ, piano, and vocal music by Pu r c e l l , Ba c h, Handel, Grieg, Ch o p in Schumann, Debussy, and Prokofieff. T h e recital was well attended and a grea t success. A On A p r i l 10, a departmental “ T a l e nt Show” was presented by the N ew Asia Student Un i o n. T h e pro- gramme included singing, playing of musical instru- ments and recitation. T h e H i s t o ry De p a r t me nt came first in the singing contest for their excellent performance w i t h Chinese folksongs. Miss W o n g K w o k H o i of the Chinese De p a r t me nt won in the recitation. A T h e Student D r ama Society of U n i t ed College presented a play in Cantonese, “ T h e Co a t ”, on Rediffusion T V on A p r i l 18 , 1967. T h e play won the second prize at the D r ama Festival sponsored by the Federation of H o n g K o n g Students in February. A T h e N ew Asia essay an d poetry contest this year, under the sponsorship of the College's Chinese De p a r t me n t, was held in the m i d d le of A p r i l. M a n y students participated. A M r . L e u ng J u rn Sun, a 1962 Physics graduate of C h u ng C h i College, is c omp l e t i ng his P h . D. this s ummer at M c Ma s t er Un i v e r s i t y, Canada. He has received an a p p o i n t me nt as a researc h fellow at Yale Un i v e r s i ty beginning September, 1967. 7
