Between 1957 and 1962, Dr. Lorantas taught at Grove City College as Assistant Professo r of History. Before coming to this University to assume duty as Senior Lecturer in History at Chung Chi College last autumn, Dr. Lorantas was Associate Professor of History at Pennsylvania's Drexel University from 1962 to 1970. Dr. Lorantas was awarded the Beta Nu Outstanding Educator Award in 1 964 and Theta Chi Outstanding Educator Award in 1970. At present, he is a member of the following professional organizations: American Historical Association, Society for French Historical Studies, the Organization of American Historians and American Association of University Professors. Mr. Chan Siu Tong, Assistant Lecturer in Chinese Literature, New Asia College Mr. Chan Siu Tong is a graduate of New Asia College and the Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research of the College. He obtained his M. A. degree from this University in 1967. Before assuming duty as Assistant Lecturer in Chinese Literature at New Asia College in autumn 1968, Mr. Chan was a Research Assistant of the Institute of Advanced Chinese Studies and Research and taught part-time at the Department of Chinese Literature of the College. Mr. Chan has written a number of articles on philology and phonology. Mr. Chan Siu Tong 生 先 棠 紹 陳 Com i n gs a nd Go i ngs • Dr. Kwok-chuen Kan, Lecturer of the School of Education, was awarded the degree of Doctor of Education by the University of California, Los Angeles, on 19th December, 1970. He returned to Hong Kong on 2nd January, 1971. • Prof. G. Kassebaum, Professor of Sociology at Hawaii University, visited the Sociolog y Department of New Asia College on 16th January. • Dr. Robert P. Crawford of Queen's College, City University of New York, visited United College and New Asia College on 18th and 19th January. • Mr. Cecil C. Luk, Lecturer in Business Administrati United College, left Hong Kong on 19th January to attend the five-week Low Cost Automation Training Course in Tokyo. • Prof. Harry Wang, Professor of Biology, has been invited by Nanyang University, Singapore, to serve as External Examiner in Zoology from 197 0 to 1972. He visited Nanyang University from 20th to 30th January. • Prof. N. Yamamoto, Visiting Professor of Japanology, visited Taiwan from 24th to 31st January to make a survey of Taiwan's economic situation as compared with that of Hong Kong. • Other visitors to the University included: Prof . B. Holzner, University of Pittsburgh; Mr. J.D. Pearson, School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London; Prof. E.G. Pulleyblank, University of British Columbia; the Rt. Hon. Lord Todd, Christ's College, University of Cambridge, and Lady Todd; and Prof. C.N. Yang, State University of New York. Co l l ege News • Dr. the Hon. Fung Ping-Fan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, United College, has been made a Knight Bachelor by Her Majesty the Queen, as announced in the New Year Honours List. • Dr. S. T. Chang, Senior Lecturer in Biology, Chung Chi College, has been awarded a one-year individual membership in the American Institute of Biological Sciences from 1st January to 31st December, 1971. This membership has been made possible through the kind assistance of The Asia Foundation.
