Woo, J.P ., has been appointed member of the Board of Governors of New Asia College. Mr. Woo, General Manager and Governing Director of the Board of Trustees of the Central Textile Ltd. has served as Chairman of the Hong Kong Cotton Spinners Association since July 1972. • A t the invitation of the Electronics Department of United College, Mr. R.G. Gaut, Chief Engineer of the H. K. Telephone Co., Ltd., gave a talk on “Telephone Services in Hong Kong" to students of the Department on 25th October. On 6th November, Dr. Paul Yu, Director of the At-Yu Electronics Co., visited the Department and gave a talk on "Operation of Small Electronic Enterprises". • The following lectures were sponsored by the Business Administration Department of New Asia College in November; (1) “Advertising in Hong Kong", delivered by Mr. George Yuan, Marketing Officer of the Information Services Department of Hong Kong, on 1st November; and (2) "Management Consultancy in Hong Kong Small Industries", delivered by Mr. Duckland of Hong Kong Productivity Centre on 30th November. • At the invitation of the New Asia Research Institute Colloquium , Mr. Mou Tsung-san, Head of the Department of Philosophy, New Asia College, gave a talk on “My Study and Thought in Recent Years", on 5th November. • At the Fifth Annual Meeting of the Chinese Language Press Institute, Dr. Ambrose Y.C. King, Lecturer in Sociology at New Asia College, spoke on "Chinese Language Press and the Local Community", on 7th November. . A t the joint invitation of the Departments of Fine Arts and French Studies of New Asia College, Madame Vandier-Nicolas, Professor of the Institut de Langues et Civilisations Orientales in Paris, gave a lecture on “ M i Fou and the Scholars Aesthetics during the North Sung Dynasty", on 6th November. • The Departments of Chinese Literature and Fine Arts of New Asia College jointly sponsored the following lectures in November: (1) "The Relationship between Art and Literature”, delivered by Professor K.C. Yu, Head of the Department of Western Languages of Cheng Chi University, Taiwan, on 8th November. (2) " An Investigation into the Relationship between the Figure-Paintings in Tun Huang and Chinese Literature" - by Professor Jao Tsung-i, Chairman of the Chinese Department of the University of Singapore, on 13th November. Mr. Daniel Chan Fook-kwan, Assistant Lecturer of the Department of Social Work, United College, presented a paper entitled "Social and Psychological Implications of Family Planning" at the Family Planning Seminar sponsored by the Family Planning Association of Hong Kong on 9th November. On 17th November, Mr. Chan attended the “Workshop on Social Research for Voluntary Agencies" held by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, and presented a paper on "Problem Formulation in Social Work Research". • On 13th November, the Chinese Literature Department of New Asia College sponsored a seminar on Literature at which Mr. Hsu Foo-kuan, a part-time Lecturer of the Department, was invited to talk on “The Works and Other Aspects of Lu Hsun". • A t a seminar sponsored by the Student Union of New Asia College, Professor Tang Chun-i, Director of the College's Research Institute, gave a talk on "Language , Characters, Culture and the College Spirit" on 18th November. • Dr. L. Stumpf, Director of the Lutheran World Service, was invited to speak at a Sunday Evening Discussion held by Chung Chi College on 19th November. The discussion was on "What's New in Hong Kong Social Welfare and Concern?" • A t the invitation of the Federation of Business Administration Societies, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Dr. the Hon. Q.W. Lee, General Manager of Hang Seng Bank Ltd., gave a public lecture on “New Development of Banking Business in the Seventies" on 20th November. • Dr. Leon Slawecki, Cultural Affairs Officer, U.S. Consulate, Hong Kong, was invited by the History Department, Chung Chi College, to deliver a public lecture on “Africa in the Contemporary World" on 20th November. . C h u n g Chi College held a discussion on teaching methods on 23rd November for its teaching staff. Professor S.L. Kong, Director of the School of Education, was invited by the Education Committee to lead the discussion. 1 1
