associate membership of the Australian Society of Accountants in Sydney. For two years immediately before his return to Hong Kong, Mr. Wong was Project Chief Accountant with Thiess Bros. Pty. Ltd., an Australian Construction Company. Mr. Wong obtained a Diploma in Management Studies in 1971 from the Extramural Studies Department of the University of Hong Kong and had worked in several local organizations before joining the University Bursary in 1974 , as Assistant Bursar. Dr. Yuan Heh-hsiang Lecturer in English New Asia College Dr. Yuan Heh-hsiang obtained his B.A. degree at Soochow University, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees at Occidental College, U.S.A. Dr. Yuan had been an Assistant Professor of English at the University of Wisconsin and National Science Council Visiting Associate Professor of English and Convener of the Ph.D. Program Committee on Comparative Literature at National Taiwan University. Dr. Yuan is now Lecturer and Head of English Department, New Asia College. Mr. Ng Chun-ming, Paul, Programmer I , Computer Services Terminal Mr. Ng Chun-ming, Paul, obtained his B.A. degree at this University in 1967 , majoring English literature. He furthered his studies in U.S.A., first at the University of Utah, from which he obtained an M.Sc. degree, then at the University of Hawaii, studying Computer Science and English literature, and was awarded an M.Sc. degree in August 1973 and an M.A. degree i n December the same year. Mr. Ng is a co- editor of An Anthology of Modern Chinese Poetry (1917-1949) and the translator of Computer and Man. Mr. Ng now serves as Programme I at the Computer Services Terminal of the University. (See also pictures in Chinese section) CULTURAL EVENTS I. Exhibition • An exhibition of paintings by Mr. Kwok Chiu Leung was held at the Department of Extramural Studies. II. Lectures • The Geography Departments of the Hong Kong University and this University jointly sponsored an Environmental Studies Forum, at which two teachers from the Department of Government & Public Administration, United College, gave the following lectures: 5th September: Mr. Jeremiah K.H. Wong: "Environmental Qualit y and Society" 14th September: Dr. Daniel H. Henning: "Significance of Environmental Administration and Planning" Mr. Jeremiah K.H. Wong: "Comparative Studies in Environmental Planning and Administration" • Dr. C.W. Mueller of the Radio Corporation of America visited the Electronics Department of United College and gave a lecture on “ I on Implantation" on 5th September. • Prof. Dr. Arnulf Baring of the Free University of Berlin gave a lecture on "The Change of Party System in Consequence of the Transformation of Diplomatic Constellation" at United College on 9th September. • Prof. C.T. Hu, Dean of the Graduate School and Director of the Institute of Chinese Studies, gave a lecture (in English) on "Some Thematic Approaches to Understanding China Under Communism” on 26th September. • New Asia College celebrated its 25th Anniversary on 28th September and Prof. T.I. Jao , Professor of Chinese Literature, gave a lecture on "Recent Trend of Sinological Studies in the West". • Prof. Jurgen Domes of the Free University of Berlin gave a lecture on "Factionalization in Chinese Politics" on 7th October. COMINGS AND GOINGS • Visitors to the University included Dr. Partomo Mugiardjo Alibazah, Vice Rector (Academic Affairs) of the University of Indonesia and Secretary of the Consortium for Medical Sciences of the Indonesian Ministry of Education; Dr. M.C.
