Martial Art Novelist's View of Chinese History Prof. Louis Cha (Jin Yong), honorary professor of the Faculty of Arts, delivered a lecture on 'The Main Trends in Chinese History' on 15 November 2007. The famous novelist and veteran journalist pointed out pitfalls in studies of Chinese history and explained how the development of the Chinese nation has been invigorated by ethnic conflicts and integration which often brought about a great and prosperous dynasty. The lecture attracted an audience of 500. Experts Explore Population Issues The Fourth International Conference on Population Geographies, organized by the Department of Geography and Resource Management, was held at the University from 10 to 13 July 2007. The conference attracted 150 participants from 36 countries and regions. One hundred and twenty-five papers were presented, covering the major contemporary themes and research frontiers of the field, such as population change and policy, international and internal migration, fertility, children population and social capital, as well as mortality and health. 52 Chinese University Bulletin
