East-West Exchange of Surgical Skills The International Robotic Surgery Symposium 2007, organized by the Department of Surgery, took place from 21 to 23 June 2007 at CUHK. The multi-disciplinary forum, the first of its kind in Asia, brought together more than 250 world experts in robotic surgery, Asian surgeons and other medical professionals, including representatives from prominent major hospitals in mainland China. Cross-straits Dialogue on Education The Cross-straits (Mainland — Taiwan — Macau — Hong Kong) Educational Conference, 'Enhancing Teaching and Learning: Teacher Development, Partnership and Professional Learning Community', co- organized by the Centre for University and School Partnership, the CUHK Faculty of Education, and the Education and Manpower Bureau (now Education Bureau), was held on 25 and 26 May 2007. The occasion provided a platform for discussion on the issues of quality education, partnership and professional learning. Over 600 participants were in attendance. News in Brief 53
