Its main function is to pro vide the community and theindustrialsector with consulting services such as expertadvice, system d esig n and analysis, feasibility studies, technical and qu ality aud it, laboratory tests, customized seminars and courses, manpower training, and the provision of expert testimony. The unit is fully supported by the academic staff of thedepartment, whose areas of specialization and industrial experience cover the main electronic disciplines such as ASIC/VLSI, analogue and high frequency circuits, biomedical engineering and telemedicine, computer/microp rocessor applications,digital signal processing for communication,speech and image signal processing, microwav e commun ication systems, optoelectronics and optical communication, solid state electronics, and materials science. Gynaecologic Cancer Research Laboratory Tel.:2632 2804 Fax.:2636 0008 E-mail: yickfuwong@cuhk.edu.hk The Gyn aeco logic Cancer Research Laboratory was set up in 1 988 in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Current studies are focused on the role of oncogenes and antioncogenes in the tumourigenesis,genetics, diagnosis, and prognosis of gynaecologic malignancies. The laboratory also providestraining for MPhil and PhD students. Located on the first floor of Special Block E at the Prince of Wales Hospital, thelaboratory’s main facilities include thermal cycler,automatic DNAsequencer, real-time quantitative PCR system, laminar flow hood, carbon dioxide incubator, and a variety of freezers and centrifuging machines.
