Department Profiles • Engineering 107 with a strong industrial background. Research and education activities are supported by the many state-of-the-art research laboratories and teaching facilities in the department, which is further expanded with the completion of Phase II of the Engineering Building. The department currently offers an HKIE-accredited undergraduate BEng (Hon) programme as well as graduate programmes at the master and doctoral levels. The undergraduate programme provides solid training in engineering fundamentals as well as specializations such as telecommunications, Internet engineering, and information processing. The graduate programme consists of research-oriented courses leading to MPhil and PhD degrees and a part-time taught programme leading to an MSc. Some graduates further their studies in the MPhil and PhD programmes of top universities such as MIT, Stanford, and Oxford. Past graduates of the department have been successful in both industry and academia. Some have founded their own businesses, while others serve as senior executives, chief technology officers, and professors.
